Gen 8 Pokémon we know so far coming as Pokémon Sword and Shield DLC

Here are the Gen 8 Pokémon that we currently know will be released alongside The Isle of Armor, the first part of the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass. There may be more Pokémon added to this list in the future.

Kubfu

• Category: Wushu Pokémon
• Type: Fighting
• Height: 2'
• Weight: 26.5 lbs
• Ability: Inner Focus

Kubfu is a new Legendary Pokémon.

Description: "This Pokémon is hardworking and strives to train both its body and mind. It uses each defeat as motivation, training itself with even more vigor after a loss in order to grow stronger. It has an organ that produces "fighting energy" in its lower abdomen, and before heading into battle, Kubfu will increase this energy through unique breathing techniques and intense focus.

Wild Kubfu live in mountainous areas far away from the Galar region, but it was once a species that called Galar its home. It's noted in historical texts that this species used to head to uncharted lands with people as they set out to trade or explore. Records suggest that the Kubfu living in faraway mountains today may have descended from Kubfu that became naturalized to the distant lands they visited in their journeys."

Urshifu

• Category: Wushu Pokémon
• Type: Single Strike Style - Fighting and dark-type / Rapid Strike Style - Fighting and water-type
• Height: 6'3"
• Weight: 231.5 lbs
• Ability: Unseen Fist

Urshifu is a new Legendary Pokémon and the evolution of Kubfu. It also has a Gigantamax form.

Description: "Kubfu will evolve into Urshifu after it has undergone sufficient training. It seems that Urshifu has two forms-a Single Strike Style and a Rapid Strike Style-and it appears that each form has different types as well.

Urshifu in Single Strike Style form favor battling without holding anything back. When enraged, they will mercilessly attack an opponent until it is utterly defeated. A Single Strike Style Urshifu's movements are often direct and involve rushing forward in a straight line. It will keep its distance from its opponents at first only to leap in close instantly to deliver a powerful blow.

Urshifu in Rapid Strike Style form maintain a calm demeanor, observing their opponents and measuring their strength while dodging attacks. A Rapid Strike Style Urshifu will use flowing movements in battle to smoothly parry an opponent's moves and then overwhelm the opponent with a flurry of rapid strikes."

Calyrex

• Category: King Pokémon
• Type: Psychic and grass-type
• Height: 3'7"
• Weight: 17 lbs
• Ability: Unnerve

Calyrex is a new Legendary Pokémon.

Description: "This Pokémon ruled all of Galar in ancient times. Though it appears delicate and slight, its every move is filled with grace and dignity. It also has extremely high intelligence, and it's said to see every past, present, and future event."

Regieleki

• Category: Electron Pokémon
• Type: Electric-type
• Height: 3'11"
• Weight: 319.7 lbs
• Ability: Transistor

Regieleki is one of the new Regi legendaries being introduced in The Crown Tundra DLC.

According to Pokémon lore, the metal rings decorating Regieleki's body are insulation equipment, which is believed to have been placed on Regieleki by ancient people to restrain its power. It also feeds on electrons to fill and is thought to be made up of electrical energy.

The signature move for Regieleki is called Thunder Cage, which not only damages the opponent and traps it in a cage of electricity.

Regidrago

• Category: Dragon Orb Pokémon
• Type: Dragon-type
• Height: 6'11"
• Weight: 440.9 lbs
• Ability: Dragon's Maw

Regidrago is the second member to be added to the Regi legendary family in The Crown Tundra DLC.

Like the other members of the Regi family, it's believed that Regidragon was created by Regigigas. Sadly, it's believed that, when Regigigas was creating Regidragon, it ran out of crystallised dragon energy, which means that it was only able to construct the head of the dragon. This has lead to Regidragon being sealed inside it's own temple, because people thought that, if it's body was completed, it would begin to destroy Galar.

Regidragon's signature move is Dragon Energy, which becomes more powerful depending on how much HP the opponent has left.

Glastrier

• Type: Ice-type

Glastrier was one of surprise legendary Pokémon released as part of the Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Glastrier is a chosen mount for Calyrex and it's ability, Chilling Neigh, boosts Glastrier's Attack after it knocks out a opponent.

Glastrier's Pokédex entry in Pokémon Sword reads, "Glastrier emits cold from its hooves. It's also a belligerent Pokémon - anything it wants, it takes by force."

Spectrier

• Category: Swift Horse Pokémon
• Type: Ghost-type

Spectrier was one of the surprise legendary Pokémon released as part of the Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Spectrier is a chosen mount for Calyrex and it's ability Grim Neigh, boosts Spectrier's Special Attack stat after it knocks out a opponent.

Spectrier's Pokédex entry in Pokémon Sword reads, "It probes its surroundings with all its senses save one - it doesn't use its sense of sight. Spectrier's kicks are said to separate soul from body.

"Its green fur creates energy from sunlight. Wilted flowers and leaves have been seen to regain their color when Grookey drums with its stick near them."

Thwackey

Description: 'When it's drumming out rapid beats in battle, it gets so caught up in the rhythm that it won't even notice that it's already knocked out its opponent. The faster a Thwackey can beat out a rhythm with its two sticks, the more respect it wins from its peers.'

Description: 'The one with the best drumming techniques becomes the boss of the troop. It has a gentle disposition and values harmony among its group. By drumming, it taps into the power of its special tree stump. The roots of the stump follows its direction in battle.'

"If Scorbunny is able to increase its heart rate and body temperature by running around and warming up properly, the true power of its fire energy will be awakened and its physical capabilities will greatly increase."

Raboot

Description: 'Its thick and fluffy fur protects it from the cold and enables it to use hotter fire moves. It kicks berries right off the branches of trees and then juggles them with its feet, practising its footwork.'

Cinderace

Description: 'It juggles a pebble with its feet, turning it into a burning soccer ball. Its shots strike opponents hard and leave them scorched. It's skilled at both offence and defence, and it get pumped up when cheered on. But if it starts showboating, it could put itself in a tough spot.'

Description: "When Sobble touches water, its body changes its pattern and color, allowing it to blend into its surroundings. Sobble is a bit timid, and so if it gets nervous or embarrassed, it will secrete the water within its body like sweat and disappear into the surroundings. Sobble's tears are capable of making others cry.

"This effect is so strong, it is said that its tears are as potent as 100 onions. If Sobble feels threatened, it will start to bawl and spread its tears around the area, causing everyone around it to start crying uncontrollably. Sobble will then use this distraction as a chance to escape."

Drizzile

Description: 'A clever combatant, this Pokémon battles using water balloons created with moisture secreted from its palms. Highly intelligent but also very lazy, it keeps enemies out of its territory by laying traps everywhere.'

Description: 'It has many hidden capabilities, such as fingertips that can shoot water and a membrane on its back that it can use to glide through the air. Blipbug

Description: 'Often found in gardens, this Pokémon has hairs on its body that it uses to assess its surroundings. A constant collector of information, this Pokémon is very smart. Very strong is what it isn't.'

Dottler

Description: 'As it grows inside its shell, it uses its psychic abilities to monitor the outside world and prepare for evolution. It barely moves, but it's still alive. Hiding in its shell without food or water seems to have awakened its psychic powers.'

Orbeetle

Description: 'It emits psychic energy to observe and study what's around it - and what's around it can include things over six miles away. It's famous for its high level of intelligence, and the large size of its brain is proof that it also possesses immense psychic power.'

Rookidee

• Category: Tiny Bird Pokémon
• Type: Flying

Description: 'It will bravely challenge any opponent, no matter how powerful. This Pokémon benefits from every battle - even a defeat increases its strength a bit. Jumping nimbly about, this small-bodied Pokémon takes advantage of even the slightest opportunity to disorient larger opponents.'

Corvisquire

Corviknight

Description: "It is said that Corviknight is the strongest Pokémon living in the skies of the Galar region. It can often be seen fearlessly soaring through the air. Many say that any Pokémon foolish enough to challenge Corviknight are sent running with just a sharp glare and cry from this fearsome Pokémon. Because Corviknight possess superb flying skills and high intelligence, many of them work for the company called Galar Taxi and help transport people from town to town."

Gigantamax Corviknight

Description: "Corviknight uses its massive wings to catch updrafts created by Gigantamax energy to hover in the air while it battles. The armor on its body has been reinforced, so attacks from Pokémon on the ground barely have any effect. Gigantamax energy has caused the armor covering Corviknight's wings to separate and become blade birds, capable of flying independently.

"Flying-type moves used by Gigantamax Corviknight will change to G-Max Wind Rage, which removes any effects of moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, and Electric Terrain that the opponents may have."

Skwovet

• Category: Cheeky Pokémon
• Type: Normal
• Height: 1"
• Weight: 5.5 lbs.

Description: 'It eats berries non stop - a habit that has made it more resilient than it looks. It'll show up on farms, searching for yet more berries. Found throughout the Galar region, this Pokémon becomes uneasy if its cheeks are ever completely empty of berries.'

Greedent

Description: 'Common throughout the Galar region, this Pokémon has strong teeth and can chew through the toughest of berry shells. It stashes berries in its tail - so many berries that they fall out constantly. But this Pokémon is a bit slow-witted, so it doesn't notice the loss.'

Greedent was originally in the pre-release material for Sword and Shield, where it appeared on the sweatshirt of a fan watching a match at an in-game stadium.

Nickit

• Category: Fox Pokémon
• Type: Dark
• Height: 2"
• Weight: 19.6 lbs.
• Ability: Run Away / Unburden

Description: 'Cunning and cautious, this Pokémon survives by stealing food from others. It erases its tracks with swipes of its tail as it makes off with its plunder. Aided by the soft pads on its feet, it silently raids the food stores of other Pokémon. It survives off its ill-gotten gains.'

Thievul

• Category: Fox Pokémon
• Type: Dark
• Height: 3'11"
• Weight: 43.9 lbs.
• Ability: Run Away / Unburden

Description: 'With a lithe body and sharp claws, it goes around stealing food and eggs. Boltund is its natural enemy. It secretly marks potential targets with a scent. By following the scent, it stalks its targets and steals from them when they least expect it.'

Obstagoon

Description: "The Linoone of the Galar region live in harsh conditions and engage in fierce competition with others of their species. As a result, their survival instincts have been honed, leading to their Evolution into Obstagoon. Though Obstagoon is extremely combative, it often does not launch the first attack.

"It will taunt an opponent, goading it into attacking. When it does, Obstagoon will cross its arms and meet the oncoming attack with its Obstruct move. Obstagoon is especially skilled at throwing its opponents off guard and counterattacking with its sharp claws."

Wooloo

• Category: Sheep Pokémon
• Type: Normal

Description: "The white fur that covers Wooloo's body grows throughout its life and will fully grow back in three months even if it has been completely shorn. The fur is used for clothing, carpets, and other goods and is very popular as a specialty product of the Galar region. Wooloo live as a herd and mimic the actions of their Trainer or herd leader. They dislike conflict, and if they need to escape from enemies, they will simply roll away."

Dubwool

Description: 'Weave a carpet from its springy wool, and you end up with something closer to a trampoline. You'll start to bounce the moment you set foot on it. Its majestic horns are meant only to impress the opposite gender. They never see use in battle.'

Chewtle

• Category: Snapping Pokémon
• Type: Water

• Ability: Strong Jaw / Shell Armor

Description: 'It starts off battles by attacking with its rock-hard horn, but as soon as the opponent flinches, this Pokémon bites down and never lets go. Apparently the itch of its teething impels it to snap its jaw at anything in front of it.'

Drednaw

Description: "The jagged fangs of the Bite Pokémon Drednaw are strong and sharp enough to bite through rock and iron. Though it has a heavy shell, its well-developed muscles allow it to move quickly. Drednaw is known to be extremely aggressive, so it takes a skilled Trainer to tame and handle this Pokémon. It seems that some Trainers will release Drednaw back into the wild once they discover they can't handle it."

Gigantamax Drednaw

• Type: Water/Rock

• Ability: Strong Jaw / Shell Armor

Description: "The power of Gigantamaxing has allowed Drednaw to stand on its hind legs and become bipedal. From its standing position, it can come crashing down on opposing Pokémon and crush them with its massive body. Drednaw normally keeps its neck retracted within its shell, but when it attacks, it can rapidly shoot its neck out. Its jaws are also incredibly strong and can easily bite through huge metal towers.

"The strength of its jaws combined with the force of its neck gives Drednaw the power to punch a hole through a rocky mountain in a single strike. Water-type moves used by Gigantamax Drednaw will change to G-Max Stonesurge. G-Max Stonesurge doesn't just deal damage to an opponent-it will scatter sharp rocks around the opponent and cause Pokémon entering the battlefield to take damage."

Yamper

• Category: Puppy Pokémon
• Type: Electric

• Ability: Ball Fetch

Description: "Yamper tends to be drawn to things that are moving quickly. It can chase after people, Pokémon, or even vehicles. It has an organ in its body that generates electricity, and it's activated when Yamper runs around. Yamper can't store the electricity it generates, so it's often seen running around with electric sparks crackling around it.

"Yamper's Ability, Ball Fetch, is a new Ability that comes into play when the Trainer throws a Poké Ball at a wild Pokémon but fails to catch it. If Yamper isn't holding an item, it will fetch the first Poké Ball that failed to catch the Pokémon, regardless of what type of Poké Ball it is."

Boltund

• Category: Dog Pokémon
• Type: Electric
• Height: 3'3"
• Weight: 75 lbs.
• Ability: Strong Jaw

Description: 'This Pokémon generates electricity and channels it into its legs to keep them going strong. Boltund can run nonstop for three full days. It sends electricity through its legs to boost their strength. Running at top speed, it easily breaks 50 mph.'

Gossifleur

• Category: Flowering Pokémon
• Type: Grass
• Height: 1′4″
• Weight: 4.9 lbs.
• Ability: Cotton Down / Regenerator

Description: "Gossifleur prefers land with clear water and air. Its pollen has a healing effect and is commonly used as a folk medicine remedy and made into a tea given to children in the Galar region when they are ill. Gossifleur travels over long distances by getting blown along by the wind. It controls the direction of its travels by twisting its body and petals."

Eldegoss

• Category: Cotton Bloom Pokémon
• Type: Grass
• Height: 1′8″
• Weight: 5.5 lbs.
• Ability: Cotton Down / Regenerator

Description: "When Gossifleur evolves into Eldegoss, its head becomes covered in thick cotton fluff. This cotton fluff serves as a cushion that helps to protect Eldegoss's head from damage. The tiny seeds attached to the cotton fluff are said to be highly nutritious and beneficial to both people and Pokémon. Eldegoss spreads these seeds throughout the region, making the soil of the Galar region rich in nutrients."

Sizzlipede

• Category: Radiator Pokémon
• Type: Fire / Bug
• Height: 2'4"
• Weight: 2.2 lbs.
• Ability: Flash Fire / White Smoke

Description: 'It wraps prey up with its heated body, cooking them in its coils. Once they're well done, it will voraciously nibble them down to the last morsel. It stores flammable gas in its body and uses it to generate heat. The yellow sections on its belly get particularly hot.'

Centiskorch

• Category: Radiator Pokémon
• Type: Fire / Bug
• Height: 9'10"
• Weight: 264.6 lbs.
• Ability: Flash Fire / White Smoke

Description: 'When it heats up, its body temperature reaches about 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. It lashes its body like a whip and launches itself at enemies. While its burning body is already dangerous on its own, this excessively hostile Pokémon also has large and very sharp fangs.'

Centiskorch also has a Gigantamax form.

Rolycoly

• Category: Coal Pokémon
• Type: Rock
• Height: 1′
• Weight: 26.5 lbs.
• Ability: Steam Engine / Heatproof

Description: "Rolycoly's red eye can illuminate dark areas, while it uses the lump of coal attached to its body like a wheel to move through coal mines and caves. It is able to travel smoothly even over rough terrain. Until about one hundred years ago, every household in the Galar region had a Rolycoly.

"The families would use the coal that dropped off its body for cooking and heating their homes. Rolycoly's Ability, Steam Engine, is a new Ability that provides a Speed stat boost if it's hit with a Fire- or Water-type move during battle."

Carkol

• Category: Coal Pokémon
• Type: Fire / Ground
• Height: 3'7"
• Weight: 172 lbs.
• Ability: Steam Engine / Flame Body

Description: 'By rapidly rolling its legs, it can travel at over 18 mph. The temperature of the flames it breathes exceeds 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. It forms coal inside its body. Coal dropped by this Pokémon once helped fuel the lives of people in the Galar region.'

Coalossal

• Category: Coal Pokémon
• Type: Fire / Ground
• Height: 9'2"
• Weight: 684.5 lbs.
• Ability: Steam Engine / Flame Body

Description: 'It's usually peaceful, but the vandalism of mines enrages it. Offenders will be incinerated with flames that reach 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. While it's engaged in battle, its mountains of coal will burn bright red, sending off sparks that scorch the surrounding area.'

Coalossal also has a Gigantamax form.

Arrokuda

• Category: Rush Pokémon
• Type: Water
• Height: 1'8"
• Weight: 2.2 lbs.
• Ability: Propeller Tail

Description: 'If it sees any movement around it, this Pokémon charges for it straightaway, leading with its sharply pointed jaw. It's very proud of that jaw. After it's eaten its fill, its movements become extremely sluggish. That's when Cramorant swallows it up.'

Barraskewda

• Category: Skewer Pokémon
• Type: Water
• Height: 4'3"
• Weight: 66.1 lbs.
• Ability: Swift Swim

Description: 'It spins its tail fins to propel itself, surging forward at speeds of over 100 knots before ramming prey and spearing into them. This Pokémon has a jaw that's as sharp as a spear and as strong as steel. Apparently Barraskewda's flesh is surprisingly tasty too.'

Perrserker

• Category: Viking Pokémon
• Type: Steel
• Height: 2'7"
• Weight: 61.7 lbs.
• Ability: Battle Armour / Tough Claws

Description: 'After many battles, it evolved dangerous claws that come together to form daggers when extended. What appears to be an iron helmet is actually hardened hair. This Pokémon lives for the thrill of battle.'

Milcery

• Category: Cream Pokémon
• Type: Fairy

• Weight: 0.7 lbs.
• Ability: Sweet Veil

Description: 'They say that any patisserie visited by Milcery is guaranteed success and good fortune. This Pokémon was born from sweet-smelling particles in the air. Its body is made of cream.'

Alcremie

• Category: Cream Pokémon
• Type: Fairy
• Height: 1′
• Weight: 1.1 lbs.
• Ability: Sweet Veil

Description: "Alcremie can produce whipped cream, which becomes richer the happier Alcremie is feeling. Desserts made using this cream are invariably delicious, so many pastry chefs strive to have an Alcremie as their partner. When attacked by an opponent, Alcremie will throw sweet-scented cream to distract them or temporarily blind them, giving itself time to escape."

Gigantamax Alcremie

Of particular note is a painting-famous in the Galar region-that depicts a duel between a Sirfetch'd and an Escavalier.

In battle, Sirfetch'd uses the sharp stalk of its leek as a lance and the thick leaves as a shield. It maintains this leek over the span of many years and treasures it more than anything. When its leek finally withers, Sirfetch'd will leave the battlefield and retire from battling entirely.

Meteor Assault is a new move introduced in these games that only Sirfetch'd can learn! Sirfetch'd points its leek at the opponent and charges toward them at great speed. This move is devastatingly powerful! However, it appears that the move also puts great strain on Sirfetch'd. It will be unable to take action immediately after using this move."

Cursola

Impidimp

Description: 'It sneaks into people's homes, stealing things and feasting on the negative energy of the frustrated occupants. Through its nose, it sucks in the emanations produced by people and Pokémon when they feel annoyed. It thrives off this negative energy.'

You will only ever find male Impidimp in the wild.

Impidimp originally appeared in the Sword and Shield demo Eurogamer played at E3, where it was one of the water-type Gym trainers' Pokémon. It also made an appearance on the 24-hour safari stream alongside Galarian Ponyta.

Morgrem

Cufant

Our first sighting of Cufant was a brief second in one of the pre-release trailers, where Cufant was seen bursting out of a Pokéball. This image only gave us a vague idea of what Cufant looked like, now we can truly see them in all their elephant glory.

Copperajah

Description: 'These Pokémon live in herds. Their trunks have incredible grip strength, strong enough to crush giant rocks into powder. They came over from another region long ago and worked together with humans. Their green skin is resistant to water.'

"However, even Trainers will face fierce attacks from their Cramorant if they try to steal its food. Cramorant's Ability, Gulp Missile, is a new Ability that can be triggered during battles. After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, it will return with a catch in its mouth. If it takes damage while in this state, Cramorant will retaliate by spitting out its catch at that opponent."

Toxel

Description of Low Key Form: 'It has an electrical organ on its chest. While generating electricity, it fills its surroundings with what sounds like the strumming of a bass guitar. Capable of generating 15,000 volts of electricity, this Pokémon looks down on all that would challenge it.'

Toxtricity has two forms - Low Charge and Amped.

Silicobra

Sinistea

Description of Antique Form: 'The swirl pattern in this Pokémon's body is its weakness. If it gets stirred, the swirl looses its shape, and Sinistea gets dizzy.It absorbs the life-force of those who drink it. It waits patiently, but opportunities are fleeting - it tastes so bad that it gets spat out immediately. '

Polteageist

Description for the male Indeedee: 'It uses the horns on its head to sense the emotions of others. Males will act as valets for those they serve, looking after they every need. Through it horns, it can pick up on the emotions of creatures around it. Positive emotions are the source of its strength.'

The appearance of an Indeedee depends on whether it's male or female.

Morpeko

This causes its fur to change colors and triggers more aggressive and volatile behavior.

"The energy stored in its cheek sacs also changes from Electric type to Dark type. Morpeko's Ability, Hunger Switch, is a new Ability that causes it to change its appearance each turn. Aura Wheel is Morpeko's signature move, and it changes type depending on Morpeko's form. In Full Belly Mode, the move is Electric type. In Hangry Mode, the move becomes Dark type."

Duraludon

"Its body is susceptible to corrosion, however, and is known to rust easily. They share their habitat with Tyranitar, so these two Pokémon are often seen battling each other in the mountains of the Galar region."

Dracozolt

Zacian
