How to start the Crown Tundra DLC in Pokémon Sword and Shield
If you want to visit the Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Shield, then you first need to purchase the Expansion Pass.
This pass can be easily purchased from the Nintendo Switch eshop and includes both the Isle of Armor DLC and the Crown Tundra DLC.
Once you've purchased this pass, you'll need to ensure that you've visited the Wild Area in the main storyline for the games at least once. This occurs roughly two hours into the game after you've visited Professor Magnolia and departed from Wedgehurst station for the first time.
If you're having trouble reaching the Wild Area or just want to know what to do in advance, then read through the guides below:
Travelling to the Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Shield
After you've unlocked the ability to visit the Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Sword, you'll automatically receive a Crown Pass. This pass can be found in the Key Items pocket and allows you to travel to the Crown Tundra.
Now, just like your first visit to the Isle of Armor, you need to head to Wedgehurst train station and take to the station attendant next to the ticket booth.
Talking to him will allow you to select the Crown Tundra Station as your destination.
Once you disembark from the train, a researcher will upgrade your Pokédex with the Crown Tundra Pokédex.
