Motostoke Outskirts is a short connecting route leading west from Galar Mine No.2 in your quest through Pokémon Sword and Shield's main story.

Pokémon Sword and Shield Motostoke Outskirts: available Pokémon, items and trainers
There's little to do here on Motostoke Outskirts other than catch a few Pokémon, collect a few items and beat a few trainers.
Be sure to beat the local 'copper, who starts off with a classic "Ello ello, what's all this then?" line. Otherwise there are some feathers to collect on the bridge, too.
