Zelda - Kam Urog, Cursed Statue Quest and Trial of Passage solution in Breath of the Wild

How to beat the Hateno region trial.

Kam Urog is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. There's both a challenge inside, a Shrine Quest to complete before you enter, with the quest named the Cursed Statue, and the Trial called Trial of Passage, which is has you navigate a large spinning mechanism. Do that OK, and you'll walk out a success.

Where to find Kam Urog and the Cursed Statue Quest

The Kam Urog shrine is located within the Hateno region, specifically North and slightly to the west of Hateno Tower, hidden in a field of small statues in a low level below the cliffs around it. To get there, jump off Hateno Tower and paraglide as far north as you can.

Cross the gap between two large natural platforms then head north east until you find a sunken level with small statues in.

In order to make the shrine itself appear, you need to wait until 9pm, then hit the statue near the back of the field with glowing purple eyes with an arrow. This, in turn, completes the Curse Statue side quest - you can get the quest itself from a man called Doctor Calip, in a house in Fort Hateno.

Kam Urog and Trial of Passage trial solution

The Trial of Passage is an awkward one, especially if you want to get both of the two available chests as well as completing it. First up, head down the ramp and into the spinning mechanism.

There are three spiked balls in here which will damage you on contact. First up, you need to wait for the long platform to come round, then stand in front of it and let it sweep you up clockwise - keeping an eye on the spiked balls as you go.

When this gets level, run towards the centre of the mechanism and stand on the large central spinning cog. Keep walking whilst on it so as to stay facing forwards.

To get the internal chest, you need to wait for the platform with it on to pass under the cog, then jump off and parachute onto it. It's awkward, and there's no real knack to it, but keep trying until the timing is right - this is the only way to get to it.

Once you've got that, make your way back round and up onto the turning platform as you did before, but this time, walk away from the cog as the platform turns upwards, getting as high as you can.

Before it's fully vertical, jump off and parachute down and round to the left, to a static platform with stairs a lamp on it, and catch your bearings.

Turn around to face up the stairs, and you'll soon see there are three separate parts of the staircase that takes you up to the top of the trial. The middle part is missing and in fact part of the spinning mechanism (in fact the chest you just opened is on the bottom of this section of stairs). Stand as far right and forward as possible on the current set of static steps.

When the middle set spins round, sprint up along it as fast as you can, and you'll come up the other side.

Now, it's time to curse Nintendo - because if you want the other chest you need to jump off the top here towards the entrance, immediately paraglide back underneath yourself and land on the platform with the second chest.
