Resident Evil 3 - Hospital safe code, beat Hunters and find the Hospital ID card and Tape explained
How to complete the Hospital segment as Carlos.
Completing the Hospital as Carlos is one of the major areas of the game - having you explore a series of rooms with increasingly difficult adversaries.
The headliner is the Hunter, a series favourite which can make your life very difficult if you're not careful.
Fighting them is required in order to get the items you need - a Hospital ID card and a Tape - to progress. Meanwhile, there's also a Hospital safe code to crack for a useful weapon upgrade.

How to begin exploring the Hospital as Carlos in Resident Evil 3
Following the Clock Tower fight as Jill, you need to explore the Hospital as Carlos. Starting in the Makeshift Sickroom, save your game and leave when ready.
This Lobby area just has a few consumables - when ready, go right from where you entered through the double doors to the Reception.
There are quite a few zombies here, so take your time and take them all on at a distance.
Be sure to also grab the Spencer Memorial Pamphlet file on the right by the locked door.
Once done, you'll be in a corridor. Going left results in a deadend, with a case which requires a Lockpick. Remember this for later. Go right, and you'll see a courtyard with a box on the other side of the window you cannot access yet.
At the end of the corridor, on a trolley to the left, is a Bobble Head.
Continue through the doors to the Lab Reception. Get the Nurse's Journal: Sept. 25 file for your collection before going onward.
Also on the reception counter is Tape Player. There is a door which requires you have an audio cassette inside to use the intercom. Let's go look for that now.
In search of the Hospital Tape in Resident Evil 3
Leave through the other doors to the Emergency Entrance. This is another room full of zombies. The one banging on the glass cannot hurt you, but beware of the one on the trolly in the corner if you are going after the consumable item next to it.
Head south to appear on the other side of the blocked corridor from earlier. Ignore the locked door left, and go right to the stairwell. There's a jump scare with a body falling down, but it won't come to life - just climb up the stairs to 2F.
Go left here onto the roof. As soon as you emerge, look right for a Bobble Head.
Go through to the other side, then take a left. In the north-east corner of this series of corridors, is the Hospital Map file. Grab this to give you a broader idea of the layout of the Hospital on your map screen, which will help us direct you where to go next.
Enter the Records Room. This is a safe room with a Nurse's Journal: Sept. 27 file and a few other consumables.
Next, go to the Staff Room, which is next door. All the bodies here won't come to life, so you're safe to explore.
There is a lockpick locker to remember for later, and a Nurse's Journal: Sept 29 file on the desk to collect.
Before you leave, make sure you grab another file, the Memos from Administration file, on the wall next to the locked door.
Head back to corridors and visit the Nurse's Station to the south. Ignore the banging door and the safe in the corner for now, and go round the counter. There is a file here - Note about a Tape Recording file.
When ready, continue along the counter to the corner door. Both doors on the east wall will now burst open.
Clear the zombies, then enter the room they emerged from - the Sickroom - to find some consumable items, and a Bobble Head in a rubbish bin in the south-west corner.
Note the zombie in the middle of the floor isn't fully dead - so knife or shoot before you step over it.
Now the area is clear, let's look at that safe.
Hospital safe code: How to open the Nurses' Station safe in Resident Evil 3
The Hospital Nurses' Station safe code is 9 Right, 3 Left.
Remember - this refers to the direction of the safe dial, and not what you need to press to move it, which is actually the opposite.
Once open, this will give you the Dual Magazine (Assault Rifle) weapon upgrade. Only Carlos can open this safe, by the way - as you might have seen by the Lockpick doors and lockers on the way here, Jill can explore the Hospital later, but once you come to it, the safe will be empty. So don't feel guilty about using the code now!
How to get the Hospital ID Card in Resident Evil 3
At the end of the Nurses Station counter is a locked door which requires a Keycard to continue, so let's get that now.
Head west out of the Nurse's Station to see a smashed window on your right. Interact with it to drop down into the courtyard.
Get the Tactical Grip (Assault Rifle) on the right, then interact with the bench to climb over and get the Key.
Follow through the smashed window, unlock the door, and you'll be back in the corridor near the stairwell from earlier. Head back up, and on the way through the Roof part of 2F, being wary of the zombie that's now stumbling around.
Save your game on the way to the Staff Room, and use the Key on the door inside.
This is a small room with a series of lockers, with several consumables. In the far corner are two lockers - the left one has the Hospital ID Card we're looking for, the next one has a jump scare as a corpse drops out.
How to beat Hunters in Resident Evil 3
Now head back towards the corridors. Before you approach the doors leaving the Staff Room, equip a Grenade, as after a cutscene is the reveal of a new enemy - the Hunter.
These are tough, fast enemies that can kill you quickly if you're not careful. A Grenade is more than enough to finish one off, but in case it didn't land cleanly enough, then let rip with your Assault Rifle while being careful to keep your distance and using Quick Step if it does get close.
Once done, save your game in the safe room on the right, then head out to the Nurse's Station, then use the Hospital ID Card on the corner door.
This takes you round a corridor where you can see two Hunters in the next room. At the end is the Linen Room, with two zombies to deal with. Once done, remember the Lockpick Locker in the corner for later, and unlock the door back to the corridor for after you're done with those Hunters.
Arm yourself with a Grenade, and just open the doors to the Treatment Room without stepping inside. Lob a grenade and back out. The blast should kill both Hunters in one go.
Once inside, you will find the audio cassette. Combine it with the Tape Player for the Tape Player (Tape Inserted).

What to do with the Tape in Resident Evil 3
When you leave the Linen Room, go left and then go straight to the window here to avoid the Hunter which is about to attack in the corridor. You'll land in the courtyard down below.
Go north-west now to the Lab Reception, where you can use the Tape Player. Be wary that the Emergency Entrance on the way will see those zombies behind glass smash through - we recommend you just sprint and Quick Step past them.
Inside this north-west most room you'll find Dr. Bard's corpse. Get the Banquet Invitation file next to him.
To continue, investigate the PC for the Email from Nathaniel Bard file.
The room next door will now unlock. Investigate the cabinet for the Vaccine Sample.
Now return to Jill. As you leave this room, a Hunter will appear in the Lab Reception on the other side of the counter. We recommend ignoring it, sprinting south through the corridor, the Reception, and to the safe room.
Now give the Vaccine to Jill to start the Defend Jill encounter.
