Pok¨Śmon Go Tour Johto 2022 event times, schedule, rewards and free activities explained
Everything you need to know about the Pok¨Śmon Go Tour: Johto event.
Pokémon Go Tour: Johto follows in the footsteps of last year's Go Tour: Kanto event, but this time celebrates Gen 2 of the Johto region.
Throughout Go Tour: Johto you'll be able to catch every Pokémon Gen 2, alongside completing new research quests and 10 Collection Challenges. What parts of the event you have access to, however, is determined by whether you want a paid or free-to-player experience.
If you do decide to buy a Go Tour: Johto ticket, you'll need to decide whether you want to play the Gold or Silver version of the event.
No matter your decision, it's a good idea to know the Go Tour: Johto start time and schedule before the event begins.
On this page:
Pokémon Go Tour: Johto schedule explained: What time does Tour Johto start?
The main Pokémon Go Tour: Johto event occurs on Saturday, 26th February from 9am to 9pm (local time), with in-person events occurring in select locations on Sunday, 27th February.
Go Tour: Johto is divided into hourly rotating habitats which focus on a specific location from the Johto region. During these hourly blocks, the Pokémon found in the specific location will have their spawn rate boosted.
Below you'll find the schedule for Go Tour: Johto and it's important to note that all the times listed below are local times. This means that, no matter where you live, your first habit will always be New Bark Town.
- 9am to 10am - New Bark Town
- 10am to 11am - Violet City
- 11am to 12pm - National Park
- 12pm to 1pm - Goldenrod City
- 1pm to 2pm - Mt. Silver
- 2pm to 3pm - New Bark Town
- 3pm to 4pm - Violet City
- 4pm to 5pm - National Park
- 5pm to 6pm - Goldenrod City
- 6pm to 7pm - Mt. Silver
- 7pm to 9pm - All spawn boots will be live
Each of the rotating habitats has a dedicated Collection Challenge for ticketed players to complete. If you haven't purchased a Go Tour: Johto ticket, you'll still be able to benefit from the boosted Pokémon spawns each habitat brings.
Pokémon Go Tour: Johto rewards explained
Pokémon Go Tour: Johto has four research quests for you to enjoy, though, to gain access to all four, you must first purchase a ticket for the event.
The first two are available to all players and are timed research quests, which means they must be completed before a specific deadline or else you miss out on the rewards. The first, Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Battle Challenge, is focused around fighting Gym Leaders, while the second leads to encounters with the legendary dogs - Raikou, Entei and Suicune Photo Safari.
If you've purchased a Go Tour: Johto ticket, you'll gain access to the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto special research quest that can be completed at your own pace. From this quest you'll earn encounters with the mythical Celebi and the famous red Gyarados - this Pokémon's shiny form.
Upon completing this research quest, you'll gain access to a new Masterwork research quest - Masterwork Research: Apex. Completing this quest will allow you to add both Apex Shadow Ho-Oh and Apex Shadow Lugia to your collection and, if you choose, purify them.
Masterwork Research quests are designed to take a substantial amount of time, so don't be surprised if you can't complete it straight away. The first - All-in-One #151 - involves reaching Level 40, so look forward to a challenge!
Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Collection Challenges explained
There are 10 Collection Challenges to be completed during Pokémon Go Tour: Johto, but you can only gain access to them if you've purchased a ticket for the event.
Five of these Collection Challenges are connected to the rotating habitats - New Bark Town, Violet City, National Park, Goldenrod City and Mt. Silver - and task you with catching Pokémon which appear more frequently during these specific hours.
The remaining five Collection Challenges are a little different and are titled Gold, Silver, Evolution, Special and Raid.
Like last year's Go Tour: Kanto, the Evolution Collection Challenge tasks you with completing every single evolution in Gen 2. This includes the item evolutions, such as using the Metal Coat to evolve Onix into Steelix, and the two Eeveelutions - Umbreon and Espeon - for Gen 2.
Thankfully, the walking requirement for evolving Eevee will be removed from 9am to 11pm (local time) on Saturday, 26th February.
The Raid Collection Challenge, meanwhile, encourages you to battle and catch Pokémon which are available via raids during the event, such as Suicune and Lugia.
The Gold and Silver Collection Challenge challenge you to find the Pokémon exclusive to each version, but how differs depending on which version you're playing. If you choose the Gold version, for example, you'll have to find the Pokémon exclusive to that version using incense and then trade for the Pokémon exclusive to Silver.
Finally, the Special Collection Challenge involves completing the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto special research to catch the Pokémon you earn from this quest. You also need to catch Smeargle by having it photobomb one of your Go Snapshot pictures.
Free-play and paid Pokémon Go Tour: Johto features explained
Which Pokémon Go Tour: Johto features you have access to is decided by whether or not you purchase a ticket for the event.
Free-play trainers can still catch as many Gen 2 Pokémon as possible thanks to the raids, 7km eggs received during the event and the rotating habitats. Any 2km eggs you collect during the event will also hatch one of the Gen 2 baby Pokémon - Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid and Magby.
Don't forget - this event is the perfect opportunity to add two regionally exclusive Pokémon, Heracross and Corsola, to your Pokédex! You might also find a shiny Smeargle.
The walking requirement for evolving Eevee into either Umbreon and Espeon will also be disabled till 11pm (local time) on Saturday, 26th February for all players.
In addition, any Lugia or Ho-Oh you catch during Go Tour: Johto will know a new special attack - Aeroblast for Lugia and Sacred Fire for Ho-Oh. A host of Pokémon will also learn their Community Day attack if you earn them via evolution during event hours, which is great if you've previously missed these move.
These Pokémon, along with their featured attacks, are:
- Meganium - Frenzy Plant (Grass-type charged attack)
- Typhlosion - Blast Burn (Fire-type charged attack)
- Feraligatr - Hydro Cannon (Water-type charged attack)
- Ampharos - Dragon Pulse (Dragon-type charged attack)
- Jumpluff - Acrobatics (Flying-type charged attack)
- Espeon - Last Resort (Normal-type charged attack)
- Umbreon - Last Resort (Normal-type charged attack)
- Tyranitar - Smack Down (Rock-type fast attack)
- Mamoswine - Ancient Power (Rock-type charged attack)
Any player who's Trainer Level 40 or above will have the chance to receive one Rare Candy XL from attending a five-star raid in person, alongside the increased chance of earning the same candy from any one-star or three-star raid they, again, attend in person.
Finally, every player - ticketed or no - can complete the two timed research quests and complete six Special Trades during the event.
If, however, you decide to purchase a Go Tour: Johto ticket, you can pick between the Gold or Silver version of the event, complete the Collection Challenges, unlock a new special research quest and, once that's completed, a new Masterwork quest.
There will also be a free bundle of three Remote Raid passes waiting for you at the in-game store and, by spinning Gyms, you can earn nine bonus Raid Passes.
Finally, ticketed players can enjoy the extra bonuses of 1/4 hatch distance, double hatch candy and extra candy from catching specific Pokémon.
The Max Out Season is here. The new global event, Wild Area, is nearly here and In the Wild is our lead-up event, which includes the global release of Toxel. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
