How to find Kukiel in Skyward Sword.
Finding Kukiel is the first side quest you'll encounter in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Kukiel will go missing after you've completed the Skyview Temple and placed the Ruby Tablet within the Goddess Statue.
You can then start this side quest by talking to her mother, Wryna, on Skyloft.
Below you'll discover how to find Kukiel and, by doing so, you'll unlock the ability to collect Gratitude Crystals.

Where to find Kukiel in Zelda: Skyward Sword explained
To find Kukiel in Skyward Sword, you must first complete the Skyview Temple and place the Ruby Tablet within the Goddess Statue. Afterwards, you'll find Wryna, Kukiel's mother, searching for her at the top of the stairs leading to the Goddess Statue.
If you can't find Wryna, try either sleeping till morning in any of the beds or leave Skyloft before returning.
After talking to Wryna about Kukiel's disappearance and agreeing to help her, you can talk to the people of Skyloft to gather information about where she might have gone. You can, however, find Kukiel without talking to these citizens.
The first step in finding Kukiel is to sleep in any bed on Skyloft till night falls and then visit the graveyard at night on the residential side of the Skyloft. Remember - night on Skyloft is dangerous, so don't drop your guard.
Once you've reached the graveyard, hit the gravestone closest to the tree.
This will cause the stone to glow and, while it's glowing, you need to push it forward. Doing so will open the door to the nearby storehouse, revealing a ladder for you to climb down.
Now all you have to do is follow the walkway, until you reach a house.
Inside you'll find both Kukiel and Batreaux. He will ask you to gather Gratitude Crystals by completing good deeds, so that he can become human.
With Kukiel found, all you have to do now is go to sleep and then return to Wryna to receive your first five Gratitude Crystals!
