Zelda DLC 1 - Korok Mask location and the EX Strange Mask Rumours quest explained
Where to find one of the many hidden items introduced in DLC 1.
The EX Strange Mask Rumours quest is one of many new missions added as part of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's first DLC pack.
Playing it through will take you to the Korok Mask location, a new item that signals when a Korok Seed is located nearby - pretty handy for completionists.
As well as the below we have a Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1: The Master Trials guide, with help on the Travel Medallion location and the treasure locations for Majora's Mask, Tingle, Phantom and Midna outfits.
Or, if you're after help for the main game itself, consult our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide.
How to start the EX Strange Mask Rumours quest
Head to the Woodland Stable (it's east of Hyrule Castle, and if you have visited the Mirro Shaz Shrine, then fast travel to that to save time) and find the Super Rumor Mill EX: Volume 1 on the table.
It'll tell you "the treasure chest containing this mask is hidden in a tree hollow in a forest that makes people lose their way". Sound familiar?
Head to the Lost Woods, which is just north west from here (if you activate the Woodland Tower, it's then directly north).
Korok Mask location
If you have already discovered Korok Forest then you'll need to recreate the first few steps of exploring the Lost Woods, following the lanterns and the direction the fire is blowing until you reach two lanterns side-by-side, with a torch leaning up against one of them.
If you are headed to Korok Forest, then you'll light the torch and follow the way the fire blows to guide you through, however here we're going to take a small diversion to find the chest.
In short, simply go south of these two lanterns, keeping the tree line on your left, headed towards the body of water. Just before you get there is a particularly large tree, that's hollowed out with a purple EX chest inside.
Climb up and open it up to get the Korok Mask and complete the EX Strange Mask Rumors quest.

How to use the Korok Mask
The Korok Mask is equipped like a regular helmet, except it'll shake to alert you of nearby Korok Seeds.
Korok Seeds are 900 (!) collectibles dotted around Hyrule, which can be traded with Hestu for inventory upgrades, allowing you to hold more weapons, bows and shields.
These are designed to be well hidden and require a small task before they are revealed, from completing a circle of stones to picking up a stray plant. In short, if something looks out of the ordinary, it's probably a Korok Seed, and this mask will alert you to its presence nearby.
If you haven't already, visit Hestu south of Kakariko Village and complete his The Priceless Maracas quest, then see him at Woodland Stable, before permanently residing at Korok Forest.
