Watch tonight's PlayStation State of Play right here with us
Ghost of Yotei! Palworld! Horizon remaster!
What are you doing tonight at 11pm UK time? That's right, watching Sony's latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast right here with us. We'll keep you up to date with everything that happens in a blow by blow account, and we would love to have you chat along with us as you watch the stream and tell us what you think.
The show begins at 11pm UK time (3pm PT) and is embedded below, and it runs for around half an hour, so it's blessedly brief. Despite that, Sony has promised to pack in more than 20 upcoming PS5 and PSVR2 games, some of them new, some of them getting updates.
What do we expect? Well, the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 remaster because it leaked ahead of the show. But also probably the Until Dawn remake, and probably the Silent Hill 2 remake, after it was confirmed as a PlayStation exclusive the other day. And maybe the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, and maybe a Days Gone remaster. Yes, we live in a world where remasters and remakes rule (give us Bloodborne you cowards!).
The newly unveiled PS5 Pro will also feature, in all its exorbitant expensiveness, as will myriad announcements of game-enhancements for it. Pre-orders for it open on Thursday 26th September, remember.
The question is, what would you like to see?
See you later on.
Our live coverage of this event has finished.
Hello hello hello! How are you all?
Short and sweet: that's how I like my State of Play broadcasts, and that's apparently what we're going to get. Is that enough room for Kojima? Will Geoff Keighley be there somehow? And can anyone afford the PS5 Pro yet? We'll have to wait and see!
Good evening! I almost fell asleep reading a book. I hope this is interesting. How are you all doing?
2much says: This is mightily early! Anyway things I'd quite like to see: - Bloodborne PS5 patch/remaster/remake/theme park - Stellar Blade DLC - Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC - Resident Evil IX, hopefully making good use of the IX in its title - UFO 50 and Nine Sols shadow drops - Really cool unique AAA games that look amazing and make me feel like the PS5 is more than just a souped up PS4
A nice spread-bet there, 2much!
VictoriaJPK says: My predictions: Palworld on PlayStation, Days Gone/Horizon remakes, Spider-Man 2 DLC, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, Astro Bot DLC My hopes: Naughty Dog's new IP, Bloodborne on PS5/PC, Ghost of Tsushima 2 And, just because why not: Silksong! ;-)
I'll just mark those down on my bingo card and get ready to cross them off when they're announced!
Unreal849 says: Halo on Gears of War on Playstation..... but not the good ones, just the ones made during 8th gen.
I assume you mean "or", but I like the concept!
A User says: Pong remastered at 8k/120fps please.
A Eurogamer Game of the Year contender in the making, that.
themightyant says: I have low expectations but anything that makes me go Wow would be cool! New, old doesn’t really matter but new is more likely to impress. Aside from that they hopefully show SOMETHING to convince people the PS5 Pro is more worthy of buying tomorrow as their first showing was down-right awful. FF7 Rebirth is the biggest improvement so far, but that was very low res on performance mode on Ps5
That's another vote for being wowed from me, too!
Lifeis2D (He/Him) says: Pong VR.
Pongy VR?
Hmm, intriguing.
Kami says: And hi Bertie! Let's hope we get more than disappointment tonight.
Hello hello hello! And welcome to all of you very familiar faces. What would a live report be without you, eh? YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE NOW.
Something happened on the livestream! I mean, you joke about Pong, but... That's quite reminiscent of it.
Miyamotosan says: My wild out there prediction: Ape Escape My actual prediction: Remasters, Dragon Quest III, Death Stranding 2 (summer 2025 release), Marathon, the live service game with the dollar sign in it, third party show reel.
Marathon being a live service game is just so poetic. I love it. It goes on and on and on and on... (and Ariston?)
Kami says: And yeah, I wouldn't say no to a new Ridge Racer either.
Bring back the PSP as a wing mirror!
MrZappa says: In need of some FZzz’s - insert State of Play snooze fest joke here… Seriously tho, I’m off to bed! Goodnight all :)
Treachery! But also good night. I bet you won't sleep for FOMO now.
Ghibli says: Right I’m in. Who’s brought things to throw?
I have! I've got all of Jack Tretton's old ties. They'll never see them coming!
The show begins
We're nearly there now. Strap in and hold onto your slippers. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, etc.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
AstroBot free add-on coming this autumn
What's up first? Ah, a content warning - I love that game.
There's AstroBot. It's too early for a remaster isn't it? Is it? Perhaps this is DLC. There's some Helldivers crossover content.
It's a free add-on coming this autumn.
A claymation game now, which looks like the sort of thing Tim Burton might makr. Dark and disturbed, and absurd, and very stylised. A kind of adventure game perhaps?
It's a PS5 or PSVR 2 game.
The Midnight Walk, it's called, by Moon Hood Studios. No release date.
Now we're in a war-ravaged modern day vibe and hearing a child narrate a story about how they couldn't play outside in this area any more. Oh, mention of monsters, and now we're seeing them - strange humanoids with no faces.
Now we're seeing a player character with a robe on and a sword of some kind. They're flying on a drone. There are some environmental puzzles. It's pretty in a high fidelity kind of way. Some kind of RPG?
Hell Is Us, it's called. It's from Rogue Factor and Nacon. No release date.
Metro now, it looks like, for PSVR 2. I can't imagine anything more terrifying!
It looks like a nice conversion from what we're seeing. Metro Awakening VR it's called, coming 7th November.
An action RPG of some sort now. The music in the background sounds an awful lot like Skyrim, but this is definitely not. It's a bit more cartoony, and more action focused. It's sort of handsome but also a bit plain at the same time.
There's some small print about online multiplayer, so I guess that's a large part of it.
ArcheAge Chronicles. Crikey, that's a blast from the past. It's coming in 2025.
Palworld out today on PS5
It's Pokemon! Shh don't, don't. It's Palword. I guess it's coming to PS5 - providing the lawsuits don't shut it all down first.
Palworld is coming to PS5 today!
Lunar Remastered Collection coming to PS5
Two old original PlayStation RPGs are coming to PS5 remastered. Lunar Remastered Collection is coming to PS5 and PS4 in spring 2025.
Turtles Shredders Revenge DLC coming later today. That is a great game - try it!
Fantasian NEO Dimension arrives 5th December on PS5, says Sakaguchi-san, the absolute legend.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay now. I went to see this recently, in case you didn't notice the million pieces I wrote about it. I don't remember this section - there was a dragon battle we weren't allowed to capture but we could experience. This must be a bit later in the game.
I'm glad there are big dragons in this Dragon Age. The dragons in Inquisition were spectacular.
Yeah, I don't recognise this encounter.
We're seeing Rook as a mage here. You can switch between weapons, as we're seeing this Rook do - between stave and spellblade builds. Spellblade being a wepaon in each hand.
Note how active combat is - you're not safe anywhere on the battlefield.
I really liked it.
Ooh that's the elven god who's name I can't spell. And therein ends the setpiece I suppose.
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House shown and dated for October
The Bureau, Lake Falls, the FBC. This has to be Remedy...
It is! It's Alan Wake 2, the Lake House. Coming this October, which is, like, very soon. Shame they weren't more specific!
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver remaster coming 10th Decemeber
Aha! This must be the Legacy of Kain remasters that were leaked earlier. That voice!
Ah, we're seeing some before and after shots of how the new version will look, and it looks smart.
It's coming 10th December.
A cosy farming game flitting by here, which actually looks rather good. There's multiplayer and you can all hang-glide around together. Towers of Aghasba, that's launching in early access this November, I think they said.
Dynasty Warriors Origins! I love how camp and over the top these games are - don't anyone now tell me they're supposed to be serious! We're going to get a release date apparently.
The trailer shows some fluid-looking gameplay. Look at how they smash hordes of enemies! So mindful, so demure.
I remember reporting on the Japanese sales charts and seeing the incredible numbers for this series.
Oh there's the date! 17th January 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds releases 28th February
Capcom now - this must be Monster Hunter Wilds. There's a huge sea beast, flopping out of the water like an angry whale.
We're seeing a montage of some environments changing from stormy to clear-skied now. There's that fluffy spider monster we've seen in other trailers. I love the colour in this game, and all of the incidental detail.
This game looks better and better - I wasn't convinced at first but now I am.
Floating ships! White wraiths! Hammy drama! It's all there.
It's coming 28th February 2025.
Horizon Zero Dawn remaster coming 31st October
What's next? Lego Horizon. I think it looks quite fun. It's coming 14th November, in case you didn't know.
Ooh ooh! And here's some proper news: Horizon Zero Dawn is being remastered for PC and PS5. It's got new mocap, new graphical updates. Apparently it brings it up to the same visual fidelity as Horizon Forbidden West.
It's coming 31st October (the same day as Dragon Age). If you own the original, you can update for £10.
There's going to be a Stellar Blade and Neir Automata collaboration coming, apparently, and some other Stellar Blade bits I admit I tuned out of. No shade on the game!
A few piecemeal updates flit by.
We're seeing some all-white PlayStation controllers. They're part of the Chroma Collection.
Oh and here's Mark Cerny to talk about the PS5 Pro.
We're going to get a look at some of the games being enhanced for the new machine. So, let's try and catch them.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth; Horizon Forbidden West; Gran Turismo 7; Hogwarts Legacy. Dragon's Dogma 2. Jedi Survivor. Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Snake Eater. Resi Village. Stellar Blade. Demon's Souls. F1 24. THe Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
I missed one or two for sure!
Ghost of Tsushima follow-up Ghost of Yotei announced
We're up in Japan now with a distinctly Samurai-like voice in our ears. Is it Assassin's Creed? A masked face. It seems like Assassin's Creed.
No it's Sucker Punch! Hello!
It's a new Ghost of Tsushima?
A female protagonist by the looks of things, and with twin swords. Ghost of Yotei it's called! It's coming next year.
The show closes
And that's it! Well, well, well - I liked that. It felt like it ended with a genuine new annoucement, and there were some significant announcements along the way.
And it didn't overstay it's welcome.
I wonder if Ghost of Yotei is an expandalone, Miles Morales style?
Kami says: @the_ewan Yes, Hitman VR was shown off. World of Assassination was the subtitle.
I completely missed this for some reason - apologies! World of Assassination suggest that yeah, it's the whole lot.
FTJT says: In conclusion, yeah fine good. Horizon remaster for a tenner, faceplates, and doki doki literature club on ps+ are three bits of good news. Few bits that look like they're cooking, maybe. GoT2 looks pretty. Not a blockbuster but I don't feel like watching the bog advert was a waste of my half hour so that's a win
You were watching a bog advert?
Kami says: It was... okay. A couple interesting bits, a few pisstakes, a few screw-yous and a decent finish.
Haha - I like this summary!
FTJT says: I watched a *big* advert. If they'd talked about taking the PS Portal into the gents with you then maybe...
Haha - oh I see, I see.
Miyamotosan says: Night all.
Goodnight Miyamoto and thanks for all the great games again!
Kami says: Well, that was fun and all but time for us to go get some sleep! G'night everyone and see ya for the next one... probably gonna be Game Awards. No wait, let's hope it's the Switch 2 Reveal Event!
Goodnight! And yes, let's will that Switch 2 reveal into existence. Come on, Nintendo, do it.
Thank you all for joining us tonight. It wasn't too bad, was it?
Remember, we'll be rounding everything up on Eurogamer in case you missed anything (or I did), and we'll be pulling any extra tidbits of information we can find from the full announcements, so keep those eyes peeled.
That's it from me tonight. Thanks for keeping me company. See you all soon!
