Warframe's frosty open-world Fortuna expansion is heading to Switch this week
Hoverboards! Spider-robots! More!
Warframe's excellent Venus-themed Fortuna expansion is finally making its way to Switch tomorrow, February 5th, developer Digital Extremes has announced.
Fortuna, like Warframe's Plains of Eidolon expansion before it, introduces a sprawling new open-world area, this time in the form of Venus' undulating, snow-covered landscape. The planet's surface, known as Orb Vallis, is "an exotic terrain blanketed with Orokin structures, towering mushroom forests, oceanic flora, and endangered native creatures", while the hub-like dept-interment colony of Fortuna lies far below.
Fortuna serves as home to the new Solaris United faction, and it's here that players collect missions and bounties before venturing back aboveground to uncover all sorts of new lore-y bits, including The Business, Eudico, Rude Zuud, and the Ventkids.
Additionally, Venus' surface provides ample opportunity to get to grips with the various system enhancements and features introduced as part of the Fortuna expansion, including hoverboarding, new spider-like enemies known as the Raknoids, wildlife conservation missions, the new Garuda warframe, plus twists on old activities, such as fishing.
And if you're still not sufficiently sold, Fortuna also features a barnstorming musical number, and who could ever say no to one of those?
Warframe's relatively recent Profit-Taker expansion, which adds even more activities to Fortuna (including a giant spider boss), isn't included as part of Switch's free update tomorrow, but hopefully it'll be making its way to the console soon.
