Stufful’s 100% perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go explained

This week’s Spotlight Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Stufful with perfect IV stats.

'Perfect' means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the maxed out, 100% IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for your 4* Pokédex, raids and Master League. Yet, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect IV Pokémon is generally only ever the best version of itself in the Master League.

Of course, you can’t see the IV of a Pokémon without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Stufful based on the CP alone.

If you’re at Level 30 (or above), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect 15/15/15 Stufful:

• Level 30 (wild CP maximum) – 1159 CP
• Level 35 (weather boosted CP maximum) – 1256 CP

The wild CP value aligns with your Trainer Level until you reach Level 30 and, due to the majority of the player base now being above this level, we’ve kept to these values for the sake of simplicity. These values will, however, be different if you’re currently below Level 30.

Stufful evolution chart: What does Stufful evolve intro?

Stufful has one evolution – Bewear – and you need 400 Stufful candy to complete this evolution in Pokémon Go.

The following methods will increase your candy yield:

• Use Pinap Berries to increase the amount of candy you earn from catching Stufful.
• Have a Stufful as your buddy Pokémon to earn some extra candy while walking with it.
• Mega evolving Pidgeot or Lopunny will increase the amount of candy you earn from catching Stufful.

Since evolving a Stufful into a Bewear requires such a large amount of candy, we recommend using some of the methods listed above to increase the amount of candy you earn during the Spotlight Hour.

Is Bewear good in PVP?

No, it’s pretty bland. Its stats are middling and its typing is underwhelming, leading to a very middle-of-the-pack performance.

However, if you are desperate to use this Pokémon in Go Battle League, you should probably know Bewear’s best moveset. Forwarned, is forearmed, as they say, and we all know that forearmed is Machamp (a much better Pokémon).

Anyway, if you’re desperate to try Gloomy Bear Bewear in PVP, we recommend a moveset of Shadow Claw (Fast) and Superpower (Charged), with Payback (Charged) if you have enough spare candy and Stardust to unlock Bewear’s second charged attack.

This is a fairly spammy moveset, you just need to be aware of the self-debuff that comes with using Superpower in Go Battle League – a guaranteed drop to both your attack and defense is no joke.

In Great League, this gives you wins against Walrein, Bastiodon, Trevenant, Lanturn and Swampert. Losses come from Noctowl, Medicham, Sableye, Alolan Ninetales and Galarian Stunfisk.

In Ultra League, you can expect wins against Giratina (Altered), Jellicent, Trevenant, Galarian Stunfisk and Walrein, but losses against Charizard, Scrafty, Swampert, Cresselia and Talonflame.

Master League, weirdly, is cuddly monster’s top billing, earning wins against Giratina, Excadrill, Dialga and Mamoswine. Losses will come (rapidly) from Mewtwo, Garchomp, Lugia, Zacian and Metagross.

You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

What do shiny Stufful and shiny Bewear look like in Pokémon Go?

Shiny Stufful was released back in April 2022 as part of the Stufful Community Day.

Unfortunately, unlike Community Day, the shiny rate during a Spotlight Hour is not elevated, leaving it at the base shiny rate of around 1/500. So, unless you plan on catching around 500 Stufful, you shouldn’t expect to see a shiny during its spotlight hour!

To find a shiny Pokémon, you need to start a catch encounter with a Pokémon in the wild. From there, it’s easy to tell if the Pokémon you’ve encountered is shiny due to its alternative colouring, shiny icon next to its name and the sparkles which shine when the encounter begins.

Some shinies are easier to spot than others, such as Stufful.

As you can see in the picture above, the pink colouring of Stufful and Bewear is changed to a shade of orange for these Pokémon’s shiny versions.

This Spotlight Hour is the perfect chance to gather candy for evolving this Gen 7 Pokémon and, if you’re very lucky, maybe catch it's shiny form. Just remember to check the IV stats of your Stufful before you invest any candy in them.
