Tepig evolution chart: What does Tepig evolve into?

Tepig, like all starter Pokémon, has two evolutions - Pignite and Emboar - which, in Pokémon Go, require 25 and 100 Candy respectively.

This knowledge will help you figure out exactly how much Tepig Candy you need and, in turn, how many Tepig you need to catch before the end of Community Day, which runs from 11am to 5pm (local time).

Thankfully, there are a number of methods you can utilise to boost your Candy gains, including:

• Using Pinap Berries to double your Catch Candy from 3 to 6
• Mega evolving either Charizard or Houndoom to receive an extra Candy per catch
• Waiting until the Spotlight Hour on Tuesday, 20th July, so you can enjoy the double Transfer Candy bonus

The above is particularly useful if you're planning on only playing for part of Community Day, rather than the full event, to ensure you have enough Candy to evolve a Tepig and power it up properly.

When you're ready to evolve, use the search function to find the 3* or 4* Tepig you've captured, so you can pick the best one.

Remember - you have an additional two hours after the Community Day ends, which is 7pm (local time), to evolve a Pignite into an Emboar which knows the event's exclusive move. If you miss this window, however, it can be taught using an Elite Charged TM.

Emboar moves and best moveset recommendation in Pokémon Go explained

When evolving a Tepig into an Emboar in Pokémon Go, we recommend a moveset of Ember (Fast) and Blast Burn (Charged). Since this Charged attack is the Community Day exclusive move, you'll want to evolve a Pignite before 7pm (local time) on the event itself.

Sadly, Emboar is not a great choice for any of the Go Battle Leagues or for five-star raids. Still, if you want to train a powerful Emboar as a 'Just in case' scenario, then Tepig's Community Day is the perfect time to do so.

Since Blast Burn is more powerful than Flame Charge and Heat Wave, it automatically becomes the best fire-type move Emboar can learn. This means you must evolve an 3* or 4* Pignite during Community Day to ensure your Emboar knows this attack or, once the event ends, use an Elite Charged TM.

We also recommend unlocking Emboar's second Charged attack, so you can utilise Emboar's secondary type by teaching it a fighting or rock-type move. Focus Blast, while slow to charge, is a good choice for this slot, because of the amount of damage it deals.

When it comes to Fast Moves, Ember is only slightly more powerful than Low Kick. Your choice, however, depends on whether you want Emboar to be focused on fire or fighting-type moves.

Community Days in Pokémon Go are, due to the increased spawn rate, the perfect opportunity to hunt down the shiny version of a Pokémon.

You're actually more likely to find a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon on its Community Day, because the shiny rate will be higher and catching more of the same type increases the likelihood of finding one too.

It's easy to tell whether you've found a shiny Pokemon, because the encounter will begin with a flurry of stars, a 'shiny' icon will appear next to its name and it's colouring will be different.

Since Tepig's Community Day also marks the release of its shiny form, including the ones for Pignite and Emboar, this is the perfect opportunity to add it to your shiny collection!
