Pok¨Śmon Go event Pok¨Śmon list: All costume Pok¨Śmon, including party hat Pok¨Śmon, flower crown Pok¨Śmon and every Pikachu costume explained

Everything you need to know about the special costume Pok¨Śmon in Pokemon Go.

Event costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go are special versions of certain Pokémon, which can be caught wearing a costume. This can be anything from a party hat to a deerstalker to what we're meant to believe is a flower crown.

Event costume Pokémon are released as part of an in-game event in Pokémon Go, such as a Community Day or a tie in event for a holiday like Halloween.

Each event costume Pokémon is very collectable, especially since there are, like regular Pokémon, shiny versions of these special Pokémon.

Raichu event costumes in Pokémon Go

Just like Pikachu, there is a range of costume Raichu for you to collect in Pokémon Go.

You can't find these Raichu out in the wild though. Instead, you'll need to evolve one of your costumed Pikachu. This means it's always a good idea to catch at least of each costumed Pikachu if you plan on becoming a costume collector.

It costs 50 Pikachu candies to evolve a Pikachu into a Raichu.

Only Straw Hat, Party Hat (Red) and Mimikyu Pikachu are unable to evolve into Raichu.

Below you'll find all the information you need about the various costumed Raichu's in Pokémon Go:

Pichu event costumes in Pokémon Go

There is a good selection of costumed Pichus for you to collect in Pokémon Go.

Costumed Pichu can only be found in eggs that are collected during the event period they're connected to. This means that, if you hold onto one of these eggs, it's possible that you might hatch a Pichu outside of an event.

Typically Pichu can be found in 7km, but it's always a good idea to check the specifics of the event just in case they're appearing in additional egg pools. This will make your task of tracking down that special Pichu a lot easier.

Here are all the costumed Pichu's that are currently available:

Cherry Blossom costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go

The Cherry Blossom costume in Pokémon Go is a set of two cherry blossoms which sit upon a Pokémon’s head in a similar manner to the Flower Crowns.

Cherry Blossom Pokémon were first introduced as part of the Spring into Spring 2023 event in April 2023. Pokémon wearing this costume can be evolved, so, if you have a Cherry Blossom Pikachu, it can be evolved into a Cherry Blossom Raichu.

When it comes to evolving Cherry Blossom Eevee, you can either use the Eeveelution name trick or, if you’ve already used the trick, the other evolution methods for this special Pokémon.

For Cherry Blossom Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, you’ll have to keep evolving Cherry Blossom Eevee until you get the one you want. Meanwhile, the Gen 2 Eeveelutions - Espeon and Umbreon - require walking with Eevee for 10km before evolving it either during the day or at night depending on which one you want.

For a Cherry Blossom Glaceon, you’ll need to be near a PokéStop where a Glacial Lure Module has been used, while, for a Leafeon wearing this costume, you need to be near a PokéStop with an active Mossy Lure Module.

Finally, for Cherry Blossom Sylveon, you need to earn 70 Buddy hearts, bringing your chosen Eevee up to Great Buddy Level, before conducting the evolution.

Remember - all of these evolutions also require 25 Eevee Candy.

Below you’ll find all of the Cherry Blossom Pokémon currently released in Pokémon Go:

Christmas event costumes in Pokémon Go

Every year Pokémon Go has a Christmas event as part of their end of year celebrations and, as part of this event, they release a collection of event costume Pokémon for a limited period.

Will you find yourself catching a Santa hat wearing Pikachu or a Stantler wearing a set of bells?

The Holiday 2022 event introduced Holiday Hat Eevee, which can be evolved into costume versions of its Eeveelutions who are all wearing the same hat.

The Eeveelution name trick can be used to obtain these costume Pokémon, but, remember, the name trick can only be used once. This means, if you've already used the name trick, you'll have to use the evolution methods listed below to obtain these Holiday Hat Eeveelutions.

Flower Crown Pokémon in Pokémon Go

Flower crowns in Pokémon Go are not flower crowns, they are flower hair clips; crowns encircle a head, not hoover awkwardly above the right eye.

Notably, it's possible to evolve a flower crown Eeevee, which, if you're not using an eeveelution trick, will result in a random flower crown eeveelution.

The easiest way to ensure you get the eeveelution you desire is to use the Eevee evolution name trick. This, however, only works once, so, if you've already used it to add that specific eeveelution to your Pokédex, then you need to try another method.

Watch on YouTube

If you're aiming for either an Espeon or Umbreon, then you'll need to walk with the Eevee you wish to evolve as your buddy for 10km. Once you've done this, evolving this specific Eevee during the day will reward you with an Espeon or, at night, an Umbreon.

For a Leafeon or Glaceon, it's time to use those special lures at your nearest PokéStop. Placing a Mossy Lure Module will allow you to evolve the Eevee into a Leafeon, while a Glacial Lure Module will transform it into a Glaceon.

Go City Safari event costumes in Pokémon Go

The Go City Safari events in Pokémon Go are a smaller version of the yearly Go Fest events, but focused in a specific real world location. This means, if you want to partake in the event, you need to purchase a ticket for the event and then travel to the location it is being held in.

While these events have been running for a number of years, 2023 was the first time an exclusive costume Pokémon was released as part of these events. The Pokémon in question is Explorer Hat Eevee and to get this costume Pokémon you had to attend one of the Go City Safari events held in 2023, completing the first step of the special research quest you obtained by doing so.

At the time of writing in July 2023, it's unknown whether Explorer Hat Eevee, or any future Go City Safari costume Pokémon, will be made available outside of these events.

Go Fest is the yearly celebration for Pokémon Go and, below, you'll find the costume Pokémon only avaliable during certain Go Fests.

The first is Go Fest 2021 - which occured on Saturday, 17th July and Sunday, 18th July - and, since the event saw the first appearance of Meloetta in Pokémon Go, a number of wearing hats inspired by the mythical Pokémon could be caught during the event. In keeping with the music theme, players could choose between Pop Star Pikachu and Rock Star Pikachu as part of that Go Fest's special research quest.

2022 saw the return of in-person Go Fest events, with events held in Berlin, Seattle and Sapporo. If you attended one of these events, then you had the chance to catch a Cowboy Hat Snorlax.

Kanto starters event costumes in Pokémon Go

Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle - the Kanto, and most well known, starter Pokémon in the franchise. Thanks to this special status, the Gen 1 starters have been given a number of special costumes in Pokémon Go.

For Squirtle this includes a pair of sunglasses, which is reference to the Squirtle Squad from the Pokémon anime.

The clone versions of the final evolutions for the Gen 1 starters - Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise - are a reference to Pokemon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, in which these three Pokémon, among others, are cloned by Mewtwo.

Visor Pokémon in Pokémon Go

Pokémon wearing Pikachu visors first debuted in Pokémon Go during Go Fest 2020, which ran from Saturday 25th July to Sunday 26th July. The Pikachu Visors these Pokémon wear share the same design as the ones typically given to Go Fest attendees.

Four years would past before the next set of Visor Pokémon arrived in June 2024 as part of the Slumbering Sands event. These visors lacked the Pikachu design though, instead going for a strong summer vibe.

Regional and Pokémon Air Adventures costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go

On Sunday, 20th June 2021, Niantic announced that Okinawan Kariyushi shirt Pikachu would be the first regional costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go, being only available to trainers in Okinawa in Japan.

Regional costume Pokémon work in exactly the same way as regionally exclusive Pokémon like Corsola - they will only be available in specific regions around the world and, if you want to collect them all, you either need to travel to this location or trade for one with a trainer who has.

We've also included the costume Pokémon released as part of the Pokémon Air Adventures events as part of this section as they can only be found in specific locations.

Here are all the regional costume Pokémon which have been released so far:

Pokémon Go Plus + required costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go

The Pokémon Go Plus + is, as its odd name suggests, an upgraded version of the original Pokémon Go Plus braclet and PokéBall Plus, which was released alongside Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee. Like those past devices, a main function of the Plus + is the ability to catch Pokémon by just pressing a button, but, unlike the older Plus models, owning the Plus + unlocks an exclusive costume Pokémon.

At the time of writing, only one costume Pokémon is exclusive to Pokémon Go Plus + owners - Nightcap Snorlax. The official Pokémon Go blog does note that there will be additional opporutnities to encounter this special Snorlax in the future.

The second costume Slowpoke was released as part of the Detective Pikachu Returns event in October 2023, which celebrated the release of Detective Pikachu Returns on Nintendo Switch.

Wild Area is an in-person event introduced to the world of Pokémon Go in 2024. As the name suggests, it's inspired by the Wild Area location in Pokémon Sword and Shield for the Nintendo Switch. Like any in-person Pokémon Go event, Wild Area, of course, includes new costume Pokémon. (There truly is no escape from costume Pokémon for players nor from updating this guide for me.)
