Team Rocket has invaded Pok¨Śmon Go once again!
The Team Go Rocket Celebration event in Pokémon Go is a great time to get back into battling the evil crime organisation which targets Pokémon.
Not only is there an exclusive Team Go Rocket Celebration event research quest, but a new selection of Shadow Pokémon has been released. The Team Leaders have also changed their Pokémon teams, so there are new challenges awaiting you are well.
You'll also be able to collect a number of field research tasks exclusive to the Team Go Rocket Celebration event, which will lead to encounters with dark, ghost and poison-type Pokémon.

Field research tasks and everything you need to know about the Team Go Rocket Celebration event in Pokémon Go
During the Team Go Rocket Celebration event in Pokémon Go, you'll be able to collect exclusive field research quests by spinning PokéStops. Though these tasks can only be collected during the event, they can be saved and completed afterwards.
Here are the field research tasks for the Team Go Rocket Celebration event:
- Catch 7 Poison-type Pokémon reward - Gligar encounter
- Purify 3 Shadow Pokémon reward - Misdreavus encounter
- Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket Grunts reward - Nidoran (female) or Nidoran (male) encounter
- Catch 15 Dark-type Pokémon reward - Umbreon encounter

The other major bonus that this event has is that any egg placed within an incubator during this event will have its hatch distance halved, which makes this week the perfect time to work through your egg backlog.
There are also a variety of Team Go Rocket bonuses, such as the Team Leaders all have new Pokémon teams which they will keep once the event ends, and the introduction of new Shadow Pokémon.
These new Shadow Pokémon are:
- Swinub
- Nosepass
- Aron
- Spheal
- Lileep
- Anorith
Alongside this, the Strange Egg pool has also been changed, meaning you can expect one of the following Pokémon to hatch from the Strange Eggs you collect:
- Qwilfish
- Larvitar
- Corphish
- Absol
- Skorupi
- Sandile
- Scraggy
- Pawniard
- Vullaby
- Deino
Finally, a variety of dark and poison-type Pokémon will be appearing in the wild more frequently and in raids, including Koffing, Sneasel, Houndour, Absol, Stunky and many others. You can also expect to see Raikou and Suicune in five-star raids, while Mega Venusaur, Ampharos and Houndoom will be appearing in Mega Raids.
The Wild Area 2024: Global event is this weekend! Throughout it you can catch Pokémon during the habitat hours, use Safari Balls, catch Mighty Pokémon, battle Gigantamax Toxtricity, obtain both Toxtricity Forms and catch a Studded Jacket Snorlax. If you've purchased an event ticket, you can also complete the An Accomplished Trainer quest. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
Team Go Rocket Celebration event dates and times in Pokémon Go
As the name suggests, the Team Go Rocket Celebration event focuses on the nefarious crime team who converted Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon.
Both the Team Go Rocket Celebration research and exclusive field research tasks are only available during this event, which runs from Tuesday, 2nd February, starting 10am (local time), and ends on Sunday, 7th February at 8pm (local time).
The Team Go Rocket Celebration research quest consists of two steps, with rewards for each individual challenge and overall quest step. If you want to earn all of these rewards, you need to ensure you complete the Team Go Rocket Celebration research quest before the end of the event or less risk losing the rewards when the research quest vanishes.
