Shinx evolution chart: What does Shinx evolve into?

Shinx has two evolutions - Luxio and Luxray - which require 25 and 100 Candy respectively (so no evolution items required).

During Community Day - which runs from 11am to 5pm local time - this is useful to know so you can work out how Candy you need (in other words, how many Shinx you need to catch) before the event comes to an end.

Remember, there are multiple ways to boost your Candy gains, such as:

• Using a Pinap Berry (doubling Candy from 3 to 6 per catch)
• Evolving an electric-type Mega Evolution - such as Mega Manectric or Mega Ampharos - during the event (adds 1 Candy per catch)
• During the event, transferring any Shinx you don't need to take advantage of the additional 3x Transfer Candy bonus and 4x chance of Candy XL transfer candy

The above is particularly useful if you only want to play for only some of Community Day, and not the entire event, to get enough Candy to evolve and power it up fully.

When you are ready to evolve - remember to use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to find the one with the best IVs - remember that up to two hours after Community Day ends (7pm local time) the final evolution will learn an event-exclusive move. If you miss this window, then you need to use an Elite Charged TM or wait until the December Community Day.

Question is - is that move always the best? And what fast move should you pair it with?

Luxray moves and best moveset recommendation explained

When evolved into Luxray, we recommend a moveset of Spark (Fast) and Psychic Fangs and Wild Charge (Charged) - the former Charged move a Community Day exclusive, meaning you want to evolve a Luxray on the day (up to 7pm local time).

Psychic Fangs is the Community Day exclusive move making its game-wide debut, and is highly recommended due to its low cost and powerful debuff that lowers defence.

You'll still want an electric Charge attack to get the most out of Luxray's typing, so couple that with the Wild Charge, and you have a very well rounded set of Charged moves. This will cost you more in Candy and Stardust to unlock, of course, but as a combo, it makes Luxray very attractive.

Of course, this is all our opinion - if you want the full available set of moves, which you can change using Fast and Charged TMs, they are as follows:

Fast Moves:

• Hidden Power (various)
• Snarl (Dark)
• Spark (Electric)

Charged Moves:

• Psychic Fangs (Psychic) - Community Day / Elite Charged TM exclusive
• Crunch (Dark)
• Hyper Beam (Normal)
• Wild Charge (Electric)

Though the moveset is a priority, there's no doubt on Community Day you want to evolve the best possible Shinx - and ideally, it would be a shiny version...

The Wild Area 2024: Global event is this weekend! Throughout it you can catch Pokémon during the habitat hours, use Safari Balls, catch Mighty Pokémon, battle Gigantamax Toxtricity, obtain both Toxtricity Forms and catch a Studded Jacket Snorlax. If you've purchased an event ticket, you can also complete the An Accomplished Trainer quest. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. What does shiny Shinx, shiny Luxio and shiny Luxray look like in Pokémon Go?

One of the biggest draws of Community Day is the increased chance of finding shiny versions of the highlighted Pokémon.

Not only does catching more of the same type increase your likelihood of a shiny anyway, but the shiny rate for the Community Day Pokémon is much higher, too. In other words - it's easy to come away with a handful of shinies in a very short period of time.

When it comes to spotting shinies, they should be easy to tell apart from their regular versions thanks to their alternate colour scheme and 'shiny' icon next to their name.

Shiny Shinx in particular isn't new to Pokémon Go - it was shiny upon its debut in 2018 - but since it was only available in Eggs, Raids and occasional events, chances are you still need one. Assuming you want to evolve one, we recommend waiting until the end of Community Day, then finding the one(s) with the best IVs (use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to do this easily) first.

Again - you have until 7pm local time (two hours after the event ends) to get the Community Day-exclusive move without having to spend an Elite Charged TM.

Ultimately, Community Day is the perfect opportunity to not only have enough Candy to fully evolve a rare creature, but fully power them up, too. If you are smart about which ones to evolve, and which moveset you give them, the event is an excellent opportunity to flesh out your collection with some of the best Pokémon in the game.
