Pok¨Śmon Go Heatran counters, weaknesses and moveset explained
How to defeat the Fire and Steel-type Legendary Pok¨Śmon.
Heatran, the Lava Dome Pokémon, is a Gen 4 Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
If a Legendary Fire and Steel-type Pokémon sounds exciting, your instincts are correct: it is a decent raid attacker and a reasonable Fire-type Pokémon in Master League of Pokémon Go.
Like all Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Heatran can be found in five-star raids. This means that if you want to add Heatran to your Pokédex, then it’s a good idea to gather a couple of fellow trainers to assist you in battle.
If you’re lucky, you might even catch a shiny Heatran.

Heatran counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go
Heatran’s counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go are:
- Heatran type: Fire and Steel-type
- Heatran is double weak against: Ground-type attacks
- Heatran is weak against: Fighting and Water-type attacks
- Heatran is resistant to: Bug, Fairy, Grass, Ice, Poison, Steel, Dragon, Flying, Normal and Psychic-type attacks
- Heatran Mega counters: Primal Groudon all the way. Failing that, Mega Garchomp is significantly worse, but still miles ahead of regular Pokémon.
- Heatran counters: Landorus (Therian Forme/Lando Cat-rissian), Groudon, Garchomp, Excadrill, the other two types of Landorus and Rhyperior
- Tactics: Two Level 50 Primal Groudon with Precipice Blades will make short work of this. Ideally (since most of us aren’t at that level), you’re looking at three to seven high-level trainers, or more if you don’t have optimal counters.

The Max Out Season is here. The new global event, Wild Area, is nearly here and In the Wild is our lead-up event, which includes the global release of Toxel. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
Everything we know about Heatran
Heatran made its first appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, where it could be found in the post-game area, Stark Mountain. It’s notable as being the only Legendary Pokémon that can be either male or female.
Heatran is also currently the only Fire and Steel-type Pokémon. This unique combination supports the belief that Heatran was based on volcanoes; the fire-type references the lava, while the steel-type represents the inner core of the earth.
Good luck finding a perfect Heatran in Pokémon Go!
