Dark Age of Camelot add-on
New server coming soon too.
Nearly four years after the game was first released, PC MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot is to get a new expansion pack and a new type of server.
Darkness Rising follows on from the Catacombs expansion released back in March and is aimed at intermediate to high level players. It includes mounts suitable for level 35s and up and lets you take part in campaigns which "have been conscientiously kept secret" - and which will allow successful players to obtain the rank of realm Champion, along with special Champion weapons. Oh, and the graphics have been spruced up as well.
But that's not all, DAOC fans - you're also getting a new type of server, titled "Classic", which is designed for those who are "willing to limit the powers that stem from time spent on the game or the accumulation of several accounts."
It offers a variation on the regular game, basically, by restricting access to some of the mighty magical powers and objects you can obtain by playing the Trials of Atlantis expansion. In addition, the enhancement bonuses for players who use several accounts simultaneously aren't quite so, well, enhancing.
The Classic server will be up and running in just a few weeks, and Darkness Rising is out in Europe at the start of 2006.
