Monster Hunter Rise - Bone locations: How to get an Eroded Skeleton, Sturdy Bone, Pale Bone and other rare bones

What are Monster Hunter Rise bones used for?

Bones are just one of many items you'll obtain during quests in Monster Hunter Rise, which can then be used to craft and upgrade armour and weapons for you and your companions.

These can be gathered from Bone Piles and as rewards from specific hunts. Bone Piles are fairly common to find across the maps, signalled by a monster skeleton icon.

Once you approach one you'll see the carcass of a monster glowing. You only need to approach it and press the button prompt. Note that you can gather Ore while riding your Palamute.

Where to find Monster Bone S, Monster Bone M, Monster Bone L and Monster Bone Plus / Monster Bone+ locations

Despite being part of the same 'family', these all come from different sources:

• Monster Bone S location: Bones Piles, but also obtained as reward from hunting Great Izuchi in Low Rank
• Monster Bone M location: Obtained as reward from hunting Barroth, Great Baggi, Khezu, Great Wroggi and Kulu-Ya-Ku in Low Rank
• Monster Bone L location: Obtained as reward from hunting Somnacanth and Rathian in Low Rank
• Monster Bone+ location: Obtained as reward from hunting Great Baggi, Great Wroggi, Great Izuchi and Kulu-Ya-Ku in High Rank

Where to find Sturdy Bone, Eroded Skeleton, Twisted Remains and Dragonhusk Shard locations

All these bones can be obtained from searching Bone Piles in low rank in specific biomes:

• Eroded Skeleton location: Bone Piles (we found it on the Sandy Plains primarily)
• Dragonhusk Shard location: Bone Piles (we found it on the Frozen Islands primarily)
• Twisted Remains location: Bone Piles (we found it on the Shrine Ruins primarily)
• Sturdy Bone location: Bone Piles (we found it on the Shrine Ruins and Lava Caverns primarily)

Where to find Jumbo Bone and Massive Bone locations

All these bones can be obtained during hunts:

• Jumbo Bone location: Obtained as reward for hunting Bishaten, Lagombi, Tetranadon, Arzuros and Volvidon in Low Rank
• Massive Bone: Obtained as reward for hunting Goss Harag (although the chance is fairly low) in both Low Rank and High Rank
• Pale Bone - Obtained as a reward for hunting Khezu (higher chance from capture and broken part drops)

Where to find Dragonbone Relic, Stoutbone, Monster Keenbone, Twisted Rockbone and Quality Bone locations

As you approach High Rank, you'll need increasingly high quality and rarer bones:

• Dragonbone Relic location: Bone Piles (Flooded Forest, Lava Caverns, Frost Islands)
• Stoutbone location: Obtained as reward for hunting Arzuros, Volvidon, Lagombi, Bishaten and Tetranadon in High Rank
• Monster Keenbone: Obtained as reward for hunting Rathian, Barroth, Khezu and Jyuratodus in High Rank
• Twisted Rockbone: Bone Piles (we found it on the Shrine Ruins primarily, might appear in Low Rank as well)
• Quality Bone location: Bone Piles (all areas in High Rank)

Where to find an Elder Dragon Bone in Monster Hunter Rise

There are also some end-game bones for those reaching the top of High Rank, such as:

• Elder Dragon Bone location: Chance to obtain as reward for hunting Thunder Serpent Narwa (rank 7 hunt in the hub)
