Minecraft 1.5 update goes live
Weather, achievements, more added.
A new Minecraft patch that adds weather and achievements to the indie world-building phenomenon has just gone live.
As demonstrated in the trailer below, snow and rain will periodically fall out of the sky and accumulate on the ground, while the odd lightning strike will also be visible.
Achievements have also finally been added, as have gameplay statistics and two new minecart operations – the booster rail and detector rail.
"More statistics and achievements will be added over time as we develop the game," creator Notch wrote on his blog. "They're only stored locally at the moment, but we'll slowly be rolling out online storing of achievements over time."
Earlier this month, Notch announced that he intended to launch the 'final' version of Minecraft on 11th November.
