Media Molecule's Dreams is still alive
"We are sorry for being a bit quiet of late¡"
LittleBigPlanet creator Media Molecule announced its next PlayStation 4 game, Dreams, at E3 2015. We've not seen or heard much about it since.
Some had hoped to see more of the creation game at the recent PlayStation Experience event, but it came and went without a peep from the Guildford developer.
But don't worry, Media Molecule is keeping the Dreams alive, and despite a planned beta being delayed, it's still in the works.
The beta trial had been set for 2016. Instead it'll come out in 2017, Media Molecule said in a post on its website.
"We are sorry for being a bit quiet of late and for disappointing people not being at PSX, but sometimes you have to just shut the doors, take the phone off the hook and hunker down and that's exactly what we have been doing!" Media Molecule chief Siobhan Reddy said.
So what's going on? Reddy said Dreams had grown much bigger than Media Molecule had anticipated.
"Now I know it may be difficult to hear, and delays make us sad too. However Dreams is Big. Really big. I mean, we always knew we were a bit crazy, but the enormity of it has taken even us by surprise. And rather than cutting corners we are staying true to our vision - that Dreams isn't just about drawing, or sculpting, but also game creation, storytelling, animation, music and sound, all rolled into one whole beautiful PlayStation game."
Reddy added that Media Molecule plans to share its progress in the New Year.
