Fortnite Vault locations and how to get Vault Keys
What lies within the vaults?
Vaults can be found across the map in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4. Yet, if you want to open a vault, you need to know how to get a vault key.
Vault keys are, unsurprisingly, the key to opening a vault in Fortnite and, without one, you risk missing out on some very useful loot.
Since not every vault will appear in each match, it's a good idea to know the vault locations so you don't waste your vault keys.

How to open a vault in Fortnite
Opening a vault in Fortnite has become a lot easier, especially when playing solo, in Chapter 3 Season 4, because it doesn’t require two players anymore.
Instead, you need to track down a vault key and then head to the nearest vault to earn your loot. Once there, simply insert your key into the lock and start opening chests - as long as another player hasn’t gotten there first!
There are, however, some vaults on the island which require two vault keys to open. For this reason, you should know how to find vault keys…
How to get vault keys in Fortnite
Vault keys can be found either in chests or sitting on the ground in certain places across the Fortnite map. It’s important to note that not every chest contains a vault key, so don’t be surprised if it takes you a while to find one.
You can also earn vault keys by defeating players who are carrying one, because, just like their weapons, the vault key will drop after their death. There is, however, no way of knowing if a player is carrying a vault key, so keep your eyes out when an enemy falls. You could even lie in wait and murder someone just as they’re opening a vault!
Remember - some of the vaults hidden across the map can only be opened using two vault keys.

Fortnite vault locations
There are 15 vaults hidden across the Fortnite island, but, before you head to one of these vaults, we recommend checking your in-game map. This is due to how vaults that have already been opened will not appear on your in-game map, so taking a quick look will prevent you from visiting a looted vault.
The vault locations, however, will only appear on this map after you've found a vault key. Each location is represented by a lock - the locks with a single keyhole require one key, while those with two need to two keys to open.
Here are the vault locations we've found so far at a glance:
So far we found vaults which require two keys to open in the following locations:
- North of Cloudy Condos
- Rave Cave
- Lustrous Lagoon
- Tilted Towers
