Dead by Daylight's latest cinematic serial killer expansion is Saw-themed
For those wanting to play a game.
Asymmetrical multiplayer slash-'em-up Dead by Daylight is getting a new DLC expansion today, this time inspired by cinematic movie juggernaut Saw.
Dead by Daylight's eighth major expansion, known simply as The Saw Chapter, includes a new killer, a new survivor, and a new map, all of which should be familiar to Saw fans.
On the killer front, the Saw expansion introduces The Pig - otherwise known as Jigsaw's accomplice Amanda Young, in the series' frequently seen pig mask. Not quite as iconic as Dead by Daylight's previous cinematic additions Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, or Michael Myers, but still probably not something you'd want to run into on the way home.
Playing as The Pig, killers gain the ability to place the movies' infamous Reverse Bear Traps on survivors, adding to the already significant stresses of a match.
The Pig also introduces three new killer perks: Hangman's Trick prevents tampering and permanent damage to hooks (and alerts the killer to sabotage attempts), Surveillance reveals the last regressing generators' auras, and Make Your Choice triggers a skill check when a survivor attempts a hook rescue at least 24 meters away from the killer.
As for new survivor Detective David Tapp (from Saw I, III, and V), his Tenacity perk lets him crawl faster and recover at the same time, while Detective's Hunch reveals auras of generators, chests, and totems within range for 3 seconds when completing a generator.
Tapp's final perk, Stake Out, is a little more complicated: "When standing within the Killer Terror Radius for some time and not in a Chase, you gain a Token up to a maximum. When Stake Out has at least 1 Token, Good Skill Checks are considered Great Skill Checks and consume 1 Token."
Dead by Daylight's Saw update also brings a new stage for its multiplayer slaughter in the form of the Gideon Meat Plant, an abattoir used by Amanda Young and the Jigsaw Killer from Saw III onwards (and, yes, I have been reading the Saw Wiki this evening). There are plenty of slightly grisly images showing the new additions on the Dead by Daylight website.
The Saw DLC expansion is available today on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and should set you back around £5 in the UK, depending on your format of choice.
