Ubisoft's The Division studio reveals Star Wars Outlaws
Coming 2024.
Tonight's Xbox Showcase gave us our first quick look at Star Wars Outlaws, from Ubisoft Massive, developer of The Division. It's coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
A CGI trailer showed a bounty hunter-stuffed trailer starring a smuggler character named Kay. What we saw offered just a glimpse, but it was very, very Star Wars.
Cue scenes with Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, people frozen in carbonite, and at least one Hutt.
Ubisoft describes Star Wars Outlaws as a "scoundrel fantasy" open-world action adventure, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
"As the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives," a description for the game reveals. "Fans will play as cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess, brought to life by Humberly González, and her loyal companion Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy's crime syndicates and join the galaxy's most wanted."
Expect more from Star Wars Outlaws this week at Ubisoft Forward, the publisher's own dedicated livestream event, set to broadcast on Monday 12th June at 6pm UK time. It's there we'll see actual gameplay - and there's not long to wait.
