Shenmue - Yamamoto House and Yamagishi locations and searching for the Black Car

Finding the Yamamoto House and Yamagishi locations in Shenmue comes after exploring the Hazuki Residence and meeting the kitten for the first time.

Yamamoto House location

When you enter Sakuragaoka, walk right round the corner at the phone box, and you'll be stopped by an elderly lady for a side-quest. She needs your help to find the Yamamoto House.

The Yamamoto House location is in the south-east of the area, more-or-less opposite Sakura Park.

Zoom in on the plaques outside of these houses, and when you find the right one, you'll be told you found it.

Now visit Sakura Park to find the elderly lady, completing the quest.

Note - it's entirely possible the quest for the Yamamoto House won't show up. If it doesn't, don't worry - though it unlocks a Trophy or Achievement, it's not important to Ryo's quest. Whether you don't receive the quest, or you complete it, move on to the next step to progress through the story.

Yamagishi location

To continue the story, you need to locate Yamagishi-san. His house is to the north-east. After taking a right at the phone box, there is a store with Capsule Toy machines out the front straight ahead. Turn right.

Go past the parked motorcycle, and find the house with the blue fencing on the right.

Yamagishi-san should be in his yard. If he isn't - perhaps if it's too late at night - try coming back another time.

Talk to Yamagishi-san to learn about the Black Car, which when towards Doubita.

To get there, head towards the park at the other side of the area, and take the road going right just before it.

Searching for the Black Car

Doubita is perhaps the game's central area, and learning how to explore it will pay off long term. It's essentially a selection of high streets with shops and apartments lining the sides, and is where you'll also find many of the game's side-attractions, from betting shops to arcades and a convenience store.

First, follow the high street down until you can turn right. Do so, and there is a florist on the right. Standing outside, in a white jumper and red skirt, is Nozomi, one of the game's main characters.

After checking in on Ryo, you'll learn a clue - that that Tom from the hot dog truck had a run with the Black Car. You'll find the hot dog truck location further down the street, going right past the Tomato Convenience Store.

Chat to Tom and he recommends you speak to Chinese people, who might know more. Enter the Global Travel Agency directly opposite, putting you on the path to the Ajilchi Chinese Restaurant and the Three Blades.
