Sega quiet on Aliens games
But Gearbox boss leaks info.
Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has let fly a few plot details for his team's upcoming Aliens-inspired first-person shooter.
It will put you in the shoes of a Colonial Marine, according to an interview translated by Gamespot, and the action will unfold from your viewpoint. These were the soldiers who accompanied Sigourney Weaver's character Ellen Ripley in the film.
Pitchford also went on to mention the role-playing Aliens game in development at Obsidian Entertainment, noting that there was communication between the two studios, although both projects were "going in totally different directions".
Unfortunately Sega is remaining tight-lipped about both games, so we're left without names or concrete platform selections for either. However, we'd expect to see PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 outings and we know one of them is due in 2009.
Sega announced plans to create the Aliens games at the end of last year, enlisting the help of two firmly established and successful developers to help quash the notion that film-inspired offerings are usually a bit rubbish.
And it seems Gearbox doesn't want to stop at just Aliens, as Pitchford left us with news he'd met with directory Michael Mann to outline plans for a Heat videogame, but hadn't had a chance to get to grips with creating it yet.
