S.L.A.I. for PS2
Futuristic fighter from Konami.
Calling all fans of Robot Wars - Konami has announced a new mech combat game for PS2, and there's not a Craig Charles in sight. You can check for yourself here.
Steel Lancer Arena International is set in the year 2071, when robot combat has become the most popular sport on the planet. You get to build and customise your own ultimate fighting machine, choosing from a huge range of body parts, weapons and unique mods - such as optical camouflage to make your robot virtually invisible - with more than a million variations on offer.
The Story Mode is said to provide over 50 hours of gameplay, but if you just fancy getting straight in there you can choose from Quick Battle or VS modes. The online option allows up to four players to go head-to-head, and more to jump in once robots start getting knocked out to keep the action going.
The combat arenas are set in locations all around the globe, from Hong Kong and Tokyo to London, New York and Cairo, and you can even customise your own soundtrack with more than 90 songs to choose from. S.L.A.I. is due out in the autumn.
