Our friends over at Adventure Gamer have posted a new Adventure Analysis column, taking a look at Gryphon Tapestry, Gabriel Knight 3, and what to expect from the adventure game genre this year.

I just noticed that the official homepage for Epic Games has been redesigned with a very simple yet beautiful design made by everbody's favourite pixel-molester, |2|. You can find information about Epic's most recent games but if you'd like to know more about the classic 'ol games from Epic (such as Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall etc) then you can swing by Epic Classics.com (is this one also made by |2|? ;-). French publisher Cryo sent along these two new screenshots of Pompeii for your viewing pleasure -

The new Tread Marks Demo has been released on the official site. Weighing in at 22Mb, Tread Marks is a tank racing game by Longbow Digital Arts, whose new demo features three maps to race (and shoot) on three different types of tanks, in both single and multiplayer.

According to the guys at Thief2-MetalAge.com we can expect Looking Glass Studios' upcoming first-person shooter, Thief 2: The Metal Age to be available on the shelves by March, this was said (not confirmed) by EvilSpirit, the lead designer of Thief 2.

Sam Brown, of Legend Entertainment, has released his THUMB utility for the Wheel of Time, exclusively for the guys at Shadar Logoth. Here's the description of this file:

I noticed while I was checking CGO out that Hasbro have released a demo of their real-time strategy game, Majesty: Sovereign of Ardania. You can snag the file from Gigex's servers (44 mb).

Sebastian from Gamelinks sent me an e-mail informing us that he has written a review of Mucky Foot's action/fighting game, Urban Chaos. They gave the game 80% (more than average) and as most Gamelinks reviews it's very well-written and features a batch of sweet screenshots.

The chaps at Game Arena have posted a well-written preview of the upcoming role-playing game from Square Soft, Final Fantasy VIII. They have also posted along a bunch of neat screenshots and according to the preview we'll see this game on the shelves in January.

The Official Counter-Strike website has once again been updated, this time with some information regarding the upcoming 5.1 patch which hopefully should fix all the bugs in the recent release. Another interesting thing is that a band called Seventh are making some music for the upcoming Counter Strike release, you can check their website here.

We have received word about a new search engine named Maximum Games' Search, which is exclusively devoted to games. The engine is still at an early stage, nonetheless it looks promising, with a whole load of features like demos, previews, etc, already fully functional.

According to James Fudge, Pandemic Studios strategy-action game, BattleZone II should be available in your local game store by now so be sure to grab a copy. I noticed over at Unreality that EzUnreal has released a new version of their UT map tool called UTMap. Here's a list of UTMap features:If you download maps while connected to a server, UtMap can rename and save these maps to your map folder.

Chris O'Brien over at VE has conducted an interview with Rob Huebner from Nihilistic Software, they talk about Nihilistic's upcoming role-playing game (in third-person), Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption which should be out very soon. While I'm at it I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, I noticed over at VE that RPG Vault has posted the third installment of the Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption design log which was written by the lead artist, Maarten Kraaijvanger.

Those nice people at Telefragged have opened up a new site called "ClanHosting.com". As you might expect from the name, it's a new hosting services for gaming clans, giving you your subdomain (eg "http://bob.clanhosting.com") and 5Mb of file space, with free e-mail accounts coming soon.

With New Years Eve already no more than a hangover and a slight deafness in one ear, EuroGamer continues its millennial coverage with "Picks For 2000", a look at some of the most promising games due for release in the next twelve months.

The OGA website has been updated, allowing OGA members to add more information about themselves to the database, including which games you play, which teams / clans / guilds / whatever you play for, and even a mugshot!

With our illustrious editor Gestalt currently making the gruelling trip to Liverpool to rave it up in fine style at the Cream New Year's Bash (he's a big Fat Boy Slim fan you know), it leaves it to me, the only one left in EuroGamer HQ to wish you and all our readers a very Happy New Year. Please don't let technicalities like the next millenium not actually starting until 2001 prevent you from enjoying whatever you are doing tonight- whether its taking part in a WAN Party or dancing the night away like John.
