God of War - Brenna Daudi boss fight and find the white-petalled flower in Sanctuary Grove
A walkthrough for the middle of God of War's second mission.
The Brenna Daudi boss fight and your ensuing task to find the white-petalled flower in the Sanctuary Grove area are the next steps of God of War's main story.
Here on this page, we'll take you through everything you need to know about this section of your quest, including how to solve any puzzles, take down any bosses and find any useful loot along the way. For guides to specific collectibles we also have pages on Valkyrie locations and how to open Hidden Chambers, Lost and Found locations and Faces of Magic locations, too.
This page follows on from Path to the Mountain, Wildwood's Edge, the Revenant and Escape the Ruins, and is the second of a few pages covering the lengthy Path to the Mountain quest.
Otherwise, you can always cycle back to our main God of War walkthrough and guide hub, or our guide to God of War Valkyrie locations and how to open Hidden Chambers, too.
Brenna Daudi boss fight
Finally, a boss! All trolls are different in God of War, but in a lot of ways they're also all the same. This one shoots some flaming projectiles, that are blockable but quite hard to dodge, but otherwise it goes down largely the same as the last one.
Distract it with Atreus arrows to get a chance to move in close and hack away - using Spartan Rage and any Runic abilities you have when available - and try to wipe out the Draugr that spawn as quickly as possible with axe throws to buy yourself some space, too.
Heavy axe throws to Brenna Daudi's face are pretty great for chunking down its health bar too, but otherwise just watch out for those flaming attacks, and as soon as its attention is turned to you, step well back from it until Atreus can draw its ire again for you to move back in.
There's the odd glowing orange orb dotted around - which boosts your Spartan Rage bar when stamped on - if you need them, and health orbs dropped from the smaller enemies and smashable pots.
When you've defeated Brenna Daudi, gobble up all that nice loot which pops out - Hacksilver, two loads of Soft Svartalfheim Steel, and Ivaldi's Anvil, a handy Heavy Runic Attack that you can equip and have explained to you in the menu, and then heal up from nearby orbs.
Before you continue, there's another locked runic chest nearby! Over by the edge of the water where it drops off the cliff. The first seal is behind it just to the right, the second behind it up and to the left, the third is a little way away - behind you, raised up, by those big rib-like pillars coming out of the ground. Hit the furthest one first, then sprint to the chest and do the other two as quickly as possible.
Inside, the chest contains another Idunn Apple for boosting your health.
There's also another treat here - to the left of the chest and there's a spot for Atreus to climb up and lower a chain for you to follow. Up the top is a strange kind of tablet with glowing blue text - a Lore Marker, which Atreus jots down in the journal. Now, you can finally continue.
Head into the tunnel marked with a torch, picking up Hacksilver as you go, and Atreus will find the boar again. Help him aim - but this time the arrow bounces off, as if the boar's magical. Strange!
Follow it, and before you jump down into the raided village, turn to your right. On the roof of a burnt house is an Eye of Odin for you to whack with your axe. Then, jump down and smash into each of the houses to collect some Hacksilver. Check out behind the right house for a Faces of Magic, too.
There's also a ledge under an overhanging rock on your left, with a Hacksilver chest on it. As you continue a Reaver will pop out too - remember to punch him rather than chop him - and then lift up the big rock to give Atreus another shot at the boar.
This time it works, although Atreus decides to chase after it carelessly, dropping his mother's knife as he goes. And all of a sudden he's disappeared into the fog...
Find Atreus
As you run after him, you'll find yourself in a mini labyrinth of rocky, foggy paths. It might seem like this is a puzzle to solve but in reality it's somewhat scripted. Simply follow the sound of his voice, calling out to him when prompted, and turning around each time you find a dead end to go a different way.
Eventually, you'll come out through a narrow gap in the rocks to a clearing, where Atreus is with a woman, and the struggling boar.

Find the white-petalled flower and Sanctuary Grove
Follow the Witch
After a cutscene, you need to carry the boar after the Witch and Atreus, into her rather fantastical home in the new area, Sanctuary Grove.
She'll task you with finding a white-petalled flower for a special salve to heal it. Yes, you're going flower picking with Kratos. I'm sure he secretly enjoyed it.
Head out the door and hang left, doubling back on yourself, where prompts will appear above the white flowers. Grab one and then head round the front of the house.
Return to Atreus
Join Atreus there and give him a hand picking his own flower (and lecturing him about the knife he dropped) then had back around to the back door again and back inside.
The boar will survive, and the Witch will also give you and Atreus a special ward to help disguise you from the Norse gods, who apparently really don't like people who aren't from round these parts.
Finally, as you progress into the secret underground pathways, you'll unlock the Witch's Compass - known as a waypoint to you and me - so you now know which way you're facing and have a nice and easy marker to follow.
Next up: God of War - Witch's Cave, Lake of Nine and the Foothills
From this point on, the world opens up a little, to become slightly less linear in how you progress.
