Svartaljofurr boss fight - how to beat the Dark Elf boss
This one's by far the toughest fight yet - although it won't feel too bad, really, for the first three quarters of it.
As soon as you use the sand bowl to try and exit, Svartaljofurr will drop down and attack. We recommend having those anti-Dark Elf enchantments and maybe that healing Talisman ready for the battle.
Like all the other bosses, this chap has a relatively predictable set of moves: a running charge and stab; a jumping area-of-effect spinning swing of the spear; a ranged shot of three projectiles which blind you if they explode nearby; and finally towards the end, a tricky, rapid slam into the ground on top of you from range.
First off, you need to whittle down his health, so start by waiting for his attacks - he dodges almost everything from range - and dodging at the last minute. Hit him a couple of times, either with whatever Runic attacks you have to hand to stun him for more hits, or just a couple slashes. But don't overdo it.
Each time you land a couple hits on him, Svartaljofurr will jump back into the air and drop an exploding projectile behind him, which'll blind you if you're close to it. So basically: bait his attack, dodge to the side, land a few hits, dodge back again to avoid his disengage attack.
Repeat that ad nauseum until he gets down to about a quarter health - remember to really try hard not to get hit by his blinding ranged attacks too - and then you really need to concentrate.

We also have articles on God of War Valkyrie locations and how to open Hidden Chambers, plus collectables including God of War Faces of Magic locations,God of War Lost and Found locations, God of War Treasure Map locations and God of War Nornir chest locations.
At low health, his attacks will change a little, to faster dashes in from distance towards you that are less telegraphed, and deal huge damage on hit. If you're blinded, Svartaljofurr is guaranteed to land one of these on you as you can't tell it's coming, and it will probably kill you. So late in the battle you must not get hit by his explosive shots.
Dodge his swoping ground-smash a few times, hitting him a couple times at each opportunity, and eventually he'll go down - an R3 propt will appear, so you can smash him up Kratos style, and he'll whisper something about this being a really bad idea. Whoops! Oh well, he drops some nice loot, including the Runic Summon Wrath of the Wolf - a new ability! - an Etched Crest of Courage, and some other bits and bobs.
Head to the sand bowl then and, at last, take it up to the top level to exit.
