Ghost of Tsushima - Honour and Ash: how to escape Castle Shimura, sneak through Kin Sanctuary and find Yuna
Detailed steps for sneaking through the lengthy Honour and Ash mission.
Honour and Ash in Ghost of Tsushima follows straight on from the previous mission, From the Darkness, taking you over from Act 2 into the dramatic Act 3.
There are a few parts to it, including some relatively tricky stealth sections, so below we've detailed all you need to know, including how to sneak through Kin Sanctuary and how to find Yuna.

Ghost of Tsushima: how to escape from Castle Shimura in Honour and Ash
You'll begin Honour and Ash as a prisoner, held by your uncle Lord Shimura's forces after your actions during From the Darkness.
Soon enough though, an ally will arrive in the form of Kenji: he'll help you sneak out, but the catch is you have no gear to do so, which means no neck stabs, for once.
Escape from Castle Shimura
Hop out the window and sneak out behind the waist-high cover where the guards are, towards a gap in the fence.
Continue on past the nice villager, hanging to the far right, until you reach the back right corner by the wall. There's a crate thingy you can hop up onto to climb the wall.
Again, keep to the far right side, using the little hut with hay in for a bit of cover if spotted, and continue until you reach the back wall. Walk along it to reach the waypoint where there's another gap to squeeze through.
Reach your horse in the stables
Now you need to reach your horse. Once again, sticking to the right is the easiest way, dropping down from the roofs to stay behind the tents. Wait for the guards to ride out the front gate, then make a break for it to your horse.
Once you do, it's time for a lengthy cutscene. Drink in the melodrama, and Act 3 begins!
How to sneak through Kin Sanctuary during Honour of Ash in Ghost of Tsushima
You'll arrive now, horseless, at Kin Sanctuary in the Endless Forest, quite far to the north.
Push forward to meet up with Yuna
Head forwards until you reach the sanctuary, where you discover the sacred tree where you were meant to meet Yuna has been burned to the ground.
Reach the sacred tree without being seen
Now for the tough part - getting to that big burned down tree without being spotted. We decided to hang left, which worked well enough.
Head to the burned down hut with the fairly large fire on the left, and scout your enemies with X-Ray vision.
There's a Mongol on a raised rock ledge in front of you. Wait for him to turn to the right, towards the centre of the area, and work your way left behind him.
Go past another burned out shack to a large, mostly intact building. More Mongols are outside but there's some pampas grass for you to pause in for a moment.
Turn right, towards the centre of the area, and make a run for the pampas grass just beside that first guard on the raised rock. There's another guard just in front of you when you get here too, so be careful.
Turn left, so that the large intact building is in front of you and to the left. You'll see a guard waiting out front, and another walking across in front of him on patrol. Wait for the patrolling guard to pass you, and then follow him, staying just outside the range of the static guard's vision, until you get to some more pampas grass with a fallen tree beside it.
From that long grass, get to the fallen tree and cross it as quick as you can. You should make it across just before you alert the guards. Go round behind the big burning sacred tree and enter it.
Investigate the area further
Yuna's not here, but an awful lot of bodies are. Investigate the bodies and follow the waypoints from one to the next, and you'll discover they've been poisoned - your own poison, used by the Mongols against your own people.
You'll start to get faint, and as you make your way over the little bridge by the stream, you hear a voice. Just in time!
Honour and Ash: help Yuna defeat the Mongols
After the cutscene, it's time to get your gear back - lucky Yuna kept it for you!
Collect your gear and meet Yuna by the watchtower
Collect it and sweep the room for supplies, then head outside to meet Yuna at the waypoint. Heads up there's also a Sashimono Banner in the middle stable just outside which you might as well grab, too.
Survey the area
Yuna needs your help taking out some encamped Mongols up ahead. Climb the watchtower and survey the area as prompted.
Reach the stables; ride out with Yuna; head to the frozen lake
Simple enough. Grab a temporary horse from the stables and follow your pal. Again, heads up there's a Mongol Artifact right outside the gate on your left - a siege weapon - so grab it as you go.
When you arrive at your destination, walk down to the edge of the lake.
Survey the frozen lake
Time for some more surveillance - note that they have fireworks, which means they'll let off a signal if you're detected.
Approach the ice fishing camp
Hang right, towards the pampas grass where there are two Mongols and a tent. There's a third Mongol further away towards the main building that might be looking your way - wait for him to turn away then chain assassinate these two. Pop into the tent to grab some Steel while you're at it.
Free the prisoners at the ice fishing camp
Continue round the back of the area to find some more long grass by another campfire, where there are two more guards. Take them out with another chain assassination.
Now climb up the side of the main building onto the lower roof, and assassinate the guard just inside the upper window.
Climb inside, and either run across the beam to drop down and pick off the two remaining guards outside then the one inside with the prisoners, or drop down to do the one guard inside first. After those three are down, free the prisoners.
Review the plan of attack
Follow Yuna outside and hop onto the rock to survey the frozen river, towards the temple on the other side.
Your plan is to lure the Mongols out, then use flaming arrows to shoot the barrels of explosives that the Mongols have, very conveniently, left sitting right in the middle of the ice.
Set off the signal fireworks
Simple enough, go over to the fireworks and press R2 then come back.
Defeat the Mongols
The Mongols will launch an ingenious charge across a load of frozen ice towards you. Wait a bit, then when they're near the barrels shoot them, and the Mongols will go down. Pick off any stragglers with arrows or the remaining explosive barrels and it's job done.
Scout the grounds of Jogaku Temple
Chase after the Mongols to the other side, towards the waypoint.
Find the frozen waterfall
The waterfall is just to the right of the steps - it's more like a large stream.
Enter Jogaku Temple
Climb up the waterfall by the ledge just to the left of it, and use it to get into the temple.
Defeat the Warlord and his guards
Time for a bit of fun. Go and Slaughter the Warlord - the one nearest to you with the gold helmet - and use Ghost stance to slash through the toughest of the others.
Finish off the last few stragglers, and finally the peasants are free. There's a final cutscene, and the mission ends. Congrats on your escape to the north! Note that you're now "exiled", however, which means you can't revisit any Japanese-controlled areas - basically, you can't go back south for now, but this temple has everything you need for the moment.
