Fray: simultaneous turn-based strategy
Wait for others no longer.
Small French studio Brain Candy is making a PC and Mac game called Fray.
What's interesting about Fray is its "simultaneous turn-based strategy" gameplay.
The blurb explains: "Fray is played in turns, where all players choose their actions simultaneously. When actions are chosen, or the timer has run out, the action then plays out in real-time cinematic fashion with dynamic camera angles. By virtue of the simultaneous action selection system, the delay and frustration of most turn-based strategy games has been eliminated."
But what happens when your squad of four collides with an enemy? Do you direct the action, or do you rely on commands issued at the start to win the day?
Fray is based in the future year of 2098, and unsurprisingly the world is about to collapse. Fray refers to a one of many virtual reality modules - in this case a combat module - where three mega-corporations battle it out for control of the planet.
