Fe is the new Unravel
And the first game from EA Originals.
Two-thirds of the way through its E3 press conference, EA likes to chuck in an "Indie". Last year it was Unravel, introduced by the world's most emotional human. This year, it's Fe, a new title from Zoink, the 20-person Swedish team behind Stick it to the Man, which is a brilliant game.
Fe is a lush, low-poly exploration game that apparently explores our relationship with nature. You awaken as a young cub in a forest glade, and must discover who you are. The more you uncover, the more you start to see the interconnectedness of things. Each animal and every plant comes with its own song, and by learning these songs you get to explore more of the world. It sounds like a Metroidvania for the Hot Yoga crowd. It's also rather pretty.
Fe is the first title from EA's new EA Originals programme, an initiative that sees the publisher supporting small developers with unique visions, and then partnering throughout the whole process. Intriguingly, it sounds like all the profit will go back into the hands of the studios that make the games.
