How to complete Riven's Wishes in Destiny 2
For six weeks during the Season of the Wish in Destiny 2, Guardians will have a chance to complete a challenge left by the late wish-granting dragon known as Riven. Riven left the administration of this with Mara Sov, and that’s where you will start.
Visit Mara in the H.E.L.M. and she will assign you a quest called Riven’s Wishes. This will lay out a series of objectives for you to complete. Once you’ve done so, return to Mara and she will give you a Wish Token. This token is then redeemed with Mara to unlock a reward.
An important thing to note is the Token’s are limited to one per account each week. You won’t be able to earn more simply by running through the quests with alternate characters. It also means a single account will only earn six tokens total, so it pays to be selective about what to redeem them for.
All Riven's Wish I quest steps
Every week you will collect the Riven’s Wish Quest from Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M., presenting you with the objectives you need to complete in order to earn a Wish Token.
For week 1 the quest steps are:
- Complete a Rift Generator public event, located in The Strand within the Dreaming City. Also, complete various activities in the Dreaming City.
- Return to Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M.
- Turn your Wish Token in to Mara for a reward.
The Rift Generator public event shows up on a rotation with the other Public Events in the Dreaming City. Your best bet is to check the map regularly until you see the Public Event symbol appear in that section.
You will need three completions of the Rift Generator event. Completing the Heroic version counts for double progress.
The 'various activities' refers to Public Events, the Blind Well, and Lost Sectors. The Blind Well is a fine option for steady progress, around 13% per successful run. Particularly quick Lost Sectors, such as the Chamber of Starlight, can be much faster, as you can just kill the boss, open the chest, and fast travel out to repeat the process.
All Riven's Wish 2 quest steps
The second set of objectives for Riven's Wish are live, and set Guardians on a hunt for hidden Ascendant Chests. These are invisible unless you consume a Tincture of Queensfoil, available from Petra Venj or as rewards from chests, Lost Sectors, Public Events, or Bounties in the Dreaming City.
For week 2 the quest steps are:
- Open Ascendant Chests located in the Dreaming City. The Ascendance buff, activated by consuming a Tincture of Queensfoil, is required to access the chests by revealing hidden paths. (Seven chests required)
- Return to Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M.
There are 10 total chests, of which you need to open seven to complete this quest. They are scattered throughout the Dreaming City, frequently hidden at the end of paths that also require you to be Ascendant in order to find.
All Riven's Wish 3 quest steps
The third Riven’s Wish quest sends you after Legend and Master Lost Sectors. These change every day based on a rotation, if you want to know what it is for today be sure to check out our Lost Sector Rotation guide.
For week 3 the quest steps are:
- Defeat combatants in Legendary or Master Lost Sector. Additional progress granted within the Dreaming City.
- Return to Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M.
The Dreaming City is featured during the first week this quest is active, so we recommend taking this on sooner rather than later to make it faster. It’s worth noting that progress is for defeating combatants within the high-level lost sector; there is no requirement that you actually finish a run. If you have a hard time with these then it is perfectly ok to just load in and get as far as you can, then repeat until the job is done.
Riven's Wish Rewards in Destiny 2
Once you earn a Wish Token from completing a Riven’s Wish quest, the big question becomes, 'what do you spend it on?' There are several good options.
The prizes are divided into three categories. The first is Deepsight Resonant (red box) weapons from the Last Wish raid. This gives you a fixed roll of weapons that were previously only available via random drops in that Raid. You can then extract the pattern for progress towards unlocking the ability to craft the weapons in the Enclave, allowing you to pick your ideal perks for your own god roll.
There’s also a section dedicated to many of the harder to get Exotic armours. While many can drop anywhere in Destiny 2, there’s a selection that is typically locked behind the Legend Lost Sector rotation. Spending your token here lets you avoid those difficult encounters and just grab the pieces you need.
Finally there’s a miscellaneous section. Rare upgrade materials like Ascendant Shards live here. There are also two Memento’s, very rare crafting materials that can be applied to crafted weapons to give some of the most interesting and unique looks in the game.
Hope you enjoy Riven's Wishes!
