How to defeat ?immumah ur-Nokru in Destiny 2, including Deepsight, and Vestiges of Dread
How to put an end to ?immumah ur-Nokru and clear the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon in Destiny 2.
Šimmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer is the final boss of the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon in Destiny 2.
As usual in Destiny 2, the final challenge will combine elements from the other encounters. Once again, there is no timer based 'enrage' mechanic to wipe the party, you have as much time as it takes, provided the entire fireteam doesn’t end up dead at the same time.

How to reach Šimmumah ur-Nokru in Ghosts of the Deep
Once you've taken out Echtar in Destiny 2, drop back into the Sea. Look for the opening, and follow on the path forward. As before, you will need to make use of air bubbles to stay alive.
Eventually you will come to the interior of a hive structure. Work your way up and forward to advance until you reach a massive open room. Jump from pillar to pillar and chip away at enemies as you go. Eventually you will reach the end, with an angry ogre to kill. After that pass, jump down a hole in the building ahead of you, pass through the last bit of the Sea, and you will arrive at the boss fight room for Šimmumah ur-Nokru.
How to defeat Šimmumah ur-Nokru in Destiny 2
When you enter the boss room, Šimmumah will be minding his own business, trying to complete a ritual to resurrect a large corpse (who’s identity we won’t spoil). Use a finisher to destroy the ghost near Šimmumah to start the fight.
Like Echtar, there are a few phases to this fight, culminating in a dedicated period of boss damage. They are:
- Reveal the rune at each of the designated body parts
- Imbue the orbs with the correct Vestiges of Light
- Damage Šimmumah
The main area is a mostly open space, with a massive corpse partially embedded in the dirt. Make note of the Head, Heart (chest), Left Hand, Right Hand, Left Foot, and Right Knee. There are openings into the Depths at the top, left, and right side of the map, each is connected to a smaller enclosed arena when you pass through them.
Once the fight starts, look for a Deepsight Orb. Activate this to grant your team Deepsite. Once you do, three of the aforementioned parts of the body will have orbs that connect one another in a triangle shape. One of the orbs will always be Heart.
A special knight called Vorlog, Risen in Heresy will be on patrol alongside the boss and swarms of hive. Stand next to one of the three designated body parts and the ground will glow green. Kill Vorlog while within this area (he doesn’t need to be in it with you), and Or’s crest will appear in the air, with a green circle floating somewhere nearby. Move to a position where the circle and symbol align, and look through it. This circle and crest will disappear, and Rune will appear above the body part.
Complete this for all three body parts to begin the next phase.
Now you need to go through the depths to each of the smaller arenas. You can do these one at a time as a group, or split up and tackle them all simultaneously. In each of the rooms will be a Lightbearer, and a floating symbol that corresponds to the three body parts back in the main section. Make sure to note which symbol is in the room first, then take out the Lightbeaerer. Once someone kills the Lightbearer and destroys the ghost they will be imbued with Vestiges of Light.
Return to the main chamber, and locate the Deepsight. Activate it to reveal the orb at each of the three body parts, and plant the Vestige of Light at the spot who’s symbol matches what was in the room the Vestige of Light was taken from. This must be done before the timer runs (otherwise it kills you) and while Deepsite is active.
Once all three Vestiges of Light have been deposited the boss damage phase can begin. Stand near one of the areas where the deposits occurred and a green ring will form. Shots from inside of this will do damage to Šimmumah’s shield. Once that breaks you can do damage from anywhere.
Focus on dealing as much damage as you can. Šimmumah will continue to fire at your fireteam members, so a healing Rift or Well of Radiance may be a good idea. Periodically Šimmumah will teleport around, forcing your team to locate him. Linear fusion rifles work great, especially if someone in your group is using Divinity to increase damage and create an easier to hit critical spot.
Eventually Šimmumah will put his shield back up, and the damage phase will end. Repeat the cycle again to continue doing damage until Šimmumah’s health reaches zero. When this happens rush up and use a finisher to destroy his ghost, and clear the dungeon. Congrats! Collect your loot, and celebrate a job well done.
