Zero Escape 3 confirmed for Vita and 3DS
Set on Mars, coming summer 2016 in English and Japanese.
Zero Escape 3, the sequel to 999 and Virtue's Last Reward, has been officially announced for 3DS and Vita, due summer 2016.
This latest installment in Chunsoft's visual novel horror franchise was announced by series director Kotaro Uchikoshi at publisher Aksys Games' Panel of Absolute Bedlam at Anime Expo 2015 in Los Angeles.
There was even a teaser trailer for it shown off at the 30.32 mark in the following video:
It looks like it concerns a woman who's worried she'll kill six billion people.
A cryptic Aksys announcement noted that this sequel will be available in both English and Japanese and it will feature fully voiced cinematics, multiple endings and returning characters.
Furthermore, Twitter user Justin Mikos captured this teaser image of its protagonists:
During Uchikoshi's Art of Localising panel it was revealed that the game will be set on Mars. Based on the crytpic statement from woman in the trailer, it sounds like most of humanity is still on earth, and in danger!
Eurogamer contributor Chris Schilling was rather fond of the first entry in the series. "If you're in the mood for a faintly silly potboiler with a handful of cracking twists, you'll find this a thoroughly enjoyable read," he said in his 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors review.
Our Martin Robinson felt similarly about its sequel, Virtue's Last Reward, which he called "A strange, frustrating and incredibly smart game."
