You can't trade items with other players in Destiny
Oh, and about going into Orbit...
You can't trade items with other players in Destiny, Bungie has confirmed.
Whether Destiny would let you trade items has been a question asked about the first-person shooter for some time.
Writing on Bungie.net, the developer confirmed it will not be possible to trade items with other players. You can, however, trade items between your various characters.
"As for swapping irons in the Tower? Nope. We want you to earn 'em," community chief David "Deej" Dague said.
"You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal. Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them, but weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."
There have also been murmurings about Destiny offering another sub-class, but Bungie poured cold water on the idea.
As Eurogamer reported earlier this year, each of Destiny's three classes - Hunter, Warlock and Titan - have two "focuses", which act as subclasses. For example, the Titan begins the game with the Striker focus. Its super is called Fist of Havoc, which is a high damage melee AOE attack. But you can also unlock the tanky Defender focus, which is based around the Void Barrier super (like the Bubble Shield from Halo). Destiny will launch with two focuses per class for a total of six, but you'll have to play through your Guardian's progression to unlock them all.
Writing on Bungie.net, Dague reiterated this.
"You have yet to maximize your first sub-class. We have yet to even let you try a second one. Ask us again once you have mastered the six classes that you'll have access to in Destiny, and we'll show what we learned while we watched you do it."
And, finally, Dague confirmed that players will have to go through the Orbit process when travelling from one location to another. "Orbit is an inescapable wonder of space travel," he said. "Enjoy the view."
Meanwhile, Destiny has gone gold. "Discs are being pressed and packed into crates," Dague said. "Destiny is done, in some respects. Even now, so close to the end, it still feels like we're just getting started."
