Yooka-Laylee successfully Kickstarts themed socks
The game is afoot.
Yooka-Laylee, the crowdfunded spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie led by many of the same developers, not only raised over £2m on Kickstarter, it managed to raise enough to fund themed socks celebrating the game.
Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic didn't produce this product, though it did officially partner with the company behind it, Bryt, which launched a Kickstarter for 25 colourful sock designs - one of which is based on Yooka-Laylee's titular lizard and bat duo.
Early birds can snag a pair of these socks for £7 (they'll soon go up to £8), though you can grab a three pack for £16, a deal that's proven to be more popular among backers. When the Kickstarter campaign ends on 18th August, backers will select the size and design options they want to reserve.
Having only launched earlier today, Bryt's line-up of socks have already raced past the clothing manufacturer's $13,303 goal with a current tally of $36,168.
When asked in the FAQ why Bryt teamed up with Playtonic on Yooka-Laylee socks, the company replied, "They are a super fun team. We are a super fun team. So it made sense, as we're both from the UK to work together. We've created an awesome pair of socks that are super fun and colourful!"
Yooka-Laylee will arrive in Q1 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC and Mac.
