What Bungie Aerospace is
An indie publishing platform.
Bungie Aerospace is a platform to help small teams get social and mobile games published and noticed. It's not a new Halo game.
The first partner will be Harebrained Schemes, a studio made by Jordan Weisman of Halo 2's I Love Bees alternate reality game fame. Weisman also founded the company FASA, which produced BattleTech and Shadowrun many moons ago. He's kind of a big deal.
Harebrained's game is called Crimson and is set to launch this summer on iOS and Android devices.
None of this will affect Bungie's focus on "building our next big action universe" for Activision.
"Bungie Aerospace allows us to partner with small teams and help them make their kick ass games while we stay laser focused on ours," wrote Bungie on its website.
"The mobile developers we’ve hired, and will hire, are working on secret stuff we can’t talk about yet. Oh, and Bungie Mobile."
Bungie Aerospace will offer independent studios the benefits of Bungie's experience plus the studio's brand clout. The huge Bungie community listens to Bungie, and the App Store is suffocated with content struggling for a breath.
