Watch WiiWare titles in action
Over on Eurogamer TV.
Eurogamer TV is now showing videos of three of the WiiWare titles Japanese owners will be treated to from 25th March.
The most expensive of these is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as King, which costs 1500 Wii Points (GBP 10.50 / EUR 15).
This is a role-playing game where you use Crystal powers to erect a castle and build up the surrounding town. You can then send adventurers out on quests and collect taxes from filthy peasants to expand your settlement. It looks rather cuddly, and all of the content should be familiar to fans of the Crystal Chronicles games.
Pokémon Ranch is next at 1000 Wii Points (GBP 7 / EUR 10), which is what the bulk of the downloadable titles will cost.
This lets you upload up to 1000 little creatures from DS games Pokémon Diamond and Poké Pearl. Once they're on your ranch, you can use your Mii character to do things with the creatures.
Useful pursuits include stacking them on top of each other to make a totem pole, or assembling them Art Attack-style to make a big picture. What joy. You can even make wanted posters.
Probably the most alluring title is Star Soldier R, a vertical scrolling-shooter that is part of the popular series spanning back to the mid '80s. There are two minute and five minute time-limited sessions for quick thrills, and plenty of explosions and confusing things going on all at once for those of you with lots of eyes. It's a bit cheaper at 800 Wii Points (GBP 5.60 / EUR 8), too.
There is a Dr. Mario clip kicking around, but Media Dan says it is rubbish. And we trust him. With some things.
You can read a full list of announced WiiWare titles on Wikipedia, which also has lots of information about elephants.
