US charts: Wii Fit blocks SFIV attack
Killzone 2 performs, F.E.A.R. 2 struggles.
Wii Fit has beaten off Street Fighter IV to top the US software chart for February.
The apple-eating Nintendo game shifted 644,000 copies, according to NPD data (reported by Gamasutra). The Capcom brawler, meanwhile, managed 446,000 sales on Xbox 360 and 403,000 sales on PlayStation 3. Combine, of course, and SFIV triumphs.
Nintendo stalwart Wii Play - which recently broke 10 million sales across the region - followed with 386,000 units sold.
Sony and big-bucks PS3-exclusive Killzone only managed fifth with 323,000 sales, and the only other entry of interest is F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin on Xbox 360, which finished 11th.
Overall, a pleasing month for Microsoft, which counts nine games for Xbox 360 in the top 20.
Keen-eyed readers will also notice Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is missing from the list below. Downloadable content is not tracked by NPD, although special Lost and Damned Xbox Live points cards are, and classed as an accessory. They, however, failed to make the February accessory top 10.
Microsoft US exec Aaron Greenberg inflated our expectations recently, claiming Lost and Damned to be the "the most successful game add-on content we've ever launched" on Xbox Live. He said it "would have outsold Killzone 2" in February had the game been offered at retail.
Industry analyst Michael Pachter agrees, and expects the GTA add-on has sold over 1 million copies.
