Uncharted 4 - Chapter 17: For Better or Worse

In this chapter, Nate and Elena are reunited and take up the search for Sam together, on foot and by car. Here's our full chapter walkthrough, including where to find the treasures, optional conversations and journal entries.
Follow Elena across the stream and up the slope to get a bead on the truck, then boost her up the ladder and follow her up the stream and to the vantage point to get a look at the elevator.
- Optional Conversation: Talk to Elena shortly after climbing the ladder.
- Treasure: Mughal Flared Vase - On the cliff edge to the left, just after climbing the ladder.
- Optional Conversation: Talk to Elena at the top of the stream.
Follow Elena back to the left and up the cliff face, drop down into the water below, and swim left. Boost her up the ladder and wait for her to push a crate down, then use your rope to pull it just downstream of the large rock pillar, then climb up and cross the fallen tree. Head left and make your way across the bridge.
Sadly, it's seen better days and you'll end up slipping down the stream, so throw your rope at the bottom, swing round to the right and use your piton to grab at the rocks. Head left and up, climb onto the elevator when Elena lowers it, and head round the corner to the right. When the elevator stops, head left and jump across to the cliff then climb up, left across the swing bars, onto the beam, up, left, and then down using your piton.
Grab the handhold at the top left and make your way round the corner. A familiar voice can be heard, so you know danger is nearby! Grab onto the wooden bars and quickly swing your way across as Elena rushes in to help.
- Optional Conversation: After the fight, head round to the right to look at the elevator again then talk to Elena.
- Optional Conversation: Talk to Elena as she walks off after the previous conversation.
- Treasure: Mughal Hinged Box - From the fight location, head right and forwards and drop off the end of the broken steps.
Head left round the corner and climb the rock about halfway up the slope to your left. Jump across to the next rock, climb to the top, and then jump the gap to your left. You've found your ride - but you've also found trouble. By now, you know the drill, so deal with the enemies and then get in the truck.
Drive left, down the stream, round to the right, up the steep slope and through the stone archway. Head upstream until you reach the large waterfall, then turn left and up the slope through the rocks. Carry on along the path then back into the river, then left again at the next waterfall back onto dry land for a while. Once back in the water, keep to the right and follow the river as it curves to the left, and then turn right up a muddy slope, bear left, and drive down to the foot of the elevator.
- Journal Entry: From the foot of the wheel, look up at the gearing mechanism above.
Park the truck in front of the gap in the low wall between the waterwheel and the small building, then get out and grab the winch cable. Wrap it round the wooden post and then back the truck up to see what happens. Detach the cable and turn the truck 90 degrees left, so that the front lines up with the gap in the wall, grab the cable, jump across the gap, and wrap it round the nearest wooden support. Move out of the way while Elena backs the truck up, and once the dust settles, climb up the newly-exposed wall.
- Treasure: Jade Serving Bowl - On the balcony on the left side of this room.
Grab the wheeled box and position it under the handholds, climb to the collapsed floor above, and head out through the window. Climb up using the windows and grab the wooden pole, then swing across to the wall opposite. Head round the corner and in through the window and then walk to the opposite side to speak to Elena. Once she's stopped the wheel, jump across to it and climb up, then when you're near the top jump right to the beam, head across it, and drop down to the building at the end.
Interact with the big handle and push the bar into place - Nathan will turn around and walk to the edge, then quickly jump across to the platforms and grab the elevator as it passes. As the elevator winds its way around, you'll be ambushed by mercenaries, so climb onto the roof and jump across to the rocks to deal with the opposition.
When most of the enemies are down, the lift will resume its course and Elena will come under attack, so jump out to the thin rock pillar then use your rope to swing across to some handholds, head right, and climb up just in time to see her finish off her assailants.
- Treasure: Ancient Stone Bowl - Head past the truck and follow the cliff round to the right. The collectible is on top of a wooden box just around the corner.
Get in the truck and head along the path, cross the river, and up the slope just to the right on the other side. Turn left at the top and then bear left under the tree arch. Stick as far left as you can in the water and drive round to the top, then drive straight across - you'll need to course-correct a bit to avoid being swept away. Once you're out of the fast moving water, resume your upstream journey for a few yards, then park the truck in front of the sluice gates.
Get out, head left, and climb onto the flower-covered rock - there's a tree branch ahead you can swing from to reach the other side. Climb the steps and turn the crank, then use the open gate to climb across to the other side of the river. Open the second gate, jump down to the truck, and drive through.
Once on the other side drive forwards a few yards, then turn hard right and up the slippery slope. Follow the path round and keep your foot hard on the gas to build up enough speed to use the collapsed bridge as a ramp to reach the far side. Follow the path round to rejoin the river once again, and keep on upstream to the elevator.
- Journal Note: There's a small patch of dry land just before you reach the elevator. Get out of the truck, climb the short ladder to the right, and enter the house. There's a note lying on the table inside.
- Treasure: Pewter Incense Burner - Climb through the window after collecting the note, and the treasure is on the floor right outside.
- Treasure: 18th Century Combination Lock - When you reach the elevator, head behind the building next to the waterwheel and climb up to the window. Inside you'll find the collectible on the wheel bearing to the right.
Drive the truck up the ramp, get out, and open the gate. Pull the lever, and up you go...
- Optional Conversation: Talk to Elena after she says the view looks like a postcard.
- Optional Conversation: Talk to her again immediately after the previous conversation.
When the elevator reaches the top, open the gate and follow the road until you reach the bridge. Drive across it, but get ready for disaster - when it gives way you'll be swept down the river. Elena will climb out to safety, but you'll end up carrying on downstream. Use your rope to grab the overhanging tree and then take a couple of big swings to grab the cliff ahead.
Once you're safe, head forwards, climb up, make your way left and up the left side of the smaller river as far as the highest rock about halfway along. Jump across to the other side.
- Journal Entry: Once you've climbed to safety, head upstream along the edge of the river until you can't go any further and look at the collapsed bridge ahead.
- Journal Note: Once you've jumped across the river, head right along the edge and climb up the rock at the end to find a skeleton.
Climb onto the large rock and drop down to the left, then climb the handholds ahead to reach the top of the waterfall. Climb through the cave and drop down the other side, clamber up the small step ahead, and follow the path right until you reach a wooden beam. Jump from the end of that to the caged skeleton, and then across to higher ground. Head forwards and left to reach the bridge that failed so spectacularly earlier, and end the chapter.
