Twisted Metal's David Jaffe forced to lay off "vast majority" of staff
After unannounced project is cancelled.
David Jaffe has announced layoffs at his studio The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, following the cancellation of an unannounced project.
The "vast majority" of Bartlet Jones staff working on games are now out of work, Jaffe confirmed on Twitter last night.
"Heart's breaking for the amazingly talented crew that's out of work :(," he wrote.
It's not clear what the studio was working on - genre, platforms, or how far along the project was. Neither is it clear what the remaining non-gaming staff at the studio are up to.
Jaffe is best known as creator of Twisted Metal and director of the first two God of War games.
In 2014 Jaffe founded Barlet Jones, his own studio, and developed cel-shaded arena shooter Drawn to Death. It launched in 2017 as a free PlayStation Plus game to mixed reviews and a short shelf life.
"Wanted y'all to hear it from me before anyone else," Jaffe said. "More news to come but for now, that's what's up."
