Trippy retro shooter Vektropolis dated for December
Win like Flynn.
Nostalgia-tinged vector graphics based PC shooter Vektropolis is dated for Doomsday i.e. 21st December, according to a new trailer. Depending on your time zone, you may be able to get it before the world explodes, or something.
Vektropolis is developed by Leeds-based Dark Computer Entertainment, which includes the co-creator of Star Wars: The Arcade Game, Daniel Gallagher, who co-founded Vektor Grafix in 1986.
Utilising the line figures made famous by games like Battlezone, Vektropolis places players in the role of an aircraft zooming around a neon Tron-like metropolis rescuing civilians and shooting down enemy ships and tanks.
Dark Computer's Frank Travaini told IndieGames.com that a Mac port would likely follow in January and the studio's exploring PS3, Vita, iPhone and Android releases.
Until then, check out the latest trailer, which brings to mind a Back to the Future 2-esque alternate reality where everything is sort of like the 80s, but slightly askew, more advanced and way crazier.
