Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania characters list, how to unlock and when DLC characters will be available
Let's roll!
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania's character list is the most extensive in the series to date.
For a game based on the GameCube originals and the Deluxe collection, it's interesting to see the series branch out with something new; the addition of guest stars from other franchises.
Some of these will arrive as DLC characters at launch and in the weeks following release, while others - such as Sonic, Kazuma and Beat from Jet Set Radio - will be unlockable from the get go.

In short - the core roster is already available, guest characters cost 5,000 Bananas while additional series characters cost 3,000 Bananas each.
Bananas - the game's main currency - are acquired in a variety of ways. Picking them up in stages is one of them, but the most lucrative source is completing missions, which are mini-objectives across every mode in the game - such as completing stages in a myriad of ways, finishing modes, playing mini-games and so on.
Unlocking the above list of characters won't take long at all - by the time we completed World 5 in the Story we already had 35,000 Bananas, which was enough to unlock every guest character in the game.
Beyond that, Golden AiAi might take a little longer to unlock - with the Golden Banana Mode available as in the Point Shop for 20,000 Bananas.
