Super Mario Odyssey - The Scourge on the Skyscraper
How to complete the Metro Kingdom objective.
The Scourge on the Skyscraper are objectives you'll encounter about halfway through Super Mario Odyssey, which follow on from Super Mario Odyssey - Forgotten Isle, Collect Power Moons!.
You'll find our full walkthrough for them here, whilst you can head back to our main Super Mario Odyssey guide, walkthrough and tips hub for plenty more on all aspects of the game!
The Scourge on the Skyscraper
Head away from the Odyssey and towards the group of people (including Mayor Pauline) looking out at New Donk City.
Turn right and follow the lines of coins and use the Spark pylon to move down to the next Spark pylon. Hit the checkpoint marked City Outskirts.
Head towards the Crazy Cap store, hitting the Sherm twice to remove its hat and possess it. Destroy the other Sherm, then leap onto the girder, crossing the swaying girder and turning right. Leap over the Goombas, turn right, then left and cross the next swaying girder. Possess the Sherm and use it destroy the distant Sherm and the cars blocking your way.
Turn left and the large girder in the street, stay in your Sherm and destroy the six other Sherms aiming for you across the square. Pass over the checkpoint (Construction Access) to activate it. Now head up across the stairs with the gold coins.
Climb every flight then move along the top floor, avoiding the Goombas. Ascend to the next level and avoid the Goombas on this roof, passing through the small gap at the other end. Turn right, then wall bounce between the two vertical girders to reach the next rooftop. Run across, pass the bystander, to reach the checkpoint (Helipad).
Follow the trail of gold coins as they curve around the building to its left. Now enter the white doorway. You'll now be in the New Donk City Hall Interior. Head forwards, keeping pace across the wooden crate that fall apart as you walk across them.
Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.
Turn left, over the crates, and use the lifts to reach the next level. Cross these crates quickly, dispatching the mini Goombas before using the next lifts to reach the next level. Defeat the angry flies then use the lifts to reach the next level.
Now climb the black and yellow pole and leap forwards to reach the next level. Cross the stepped crates quickly, then use the next pole to climb to the higher level. Cross these crates, leap over the gap then use the next pole to climb up. Use Capy to deal with maggots and flies as you move around this top level as it curves to the right. Now enter the black doorway.

You'll be outside again, but not high enough to deal with your objective. Cross the checkpoint (New Donk City Hall Rooftop), and head around the building's right-hand side. Use the Spark pylon and ride it to the top of the building. Climb one level and a cutscene will see Mario flung backwards by the centipede boss onto the street below.
