Resident Evil 5 still top in UK charts
WWE and GTA in top ten, MadWorld 34.
Resident Evil 5 clung onto top spot in the UK All-Formats Top 40 this week, although Chart-Track says sales dipped 52 per cent following its impressive first-week bow.
Interestingly, the highest-placed new entry this week is WWE Legends of WrestleMania in fourth, rather than GTA: Chinatown Wars for DS, which only manages sixth. Chart-Track states that sales were around half what the last PSP outing, Vice City Stories, did in its first week on sale.
Keeping Resi company at the top of the pops once again, meanwhile, is Nintendo's evergreen Wii Fit, which the Capcom survival horror is now only outselling by a paltry 2.7 to 1. Tsk.
Nintendo won't be worrying though, with Professor Layton up to third, Brain Training back in the top ten at eight, and Wii Play (13), New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis (24), Mario Kart Wii (25), Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (30), More Brain Training (33), 100 Classic Book Collection (38) and Mario Kart DS (40) rounding out its by-now-typical, but no less impressive, influence on the chart.
Capcom will also be happy to see Street Fighter IV back in the top ten, with sales up 48 per cent thanks to a retail promotion apparently. It's at seven.
The other new entries this week are SingStar Queen, which rocks up at 22, with SEGA and PlatinumGames' MadWorld only making it to 34, rather sadly.
Will Resident Evil 5 hang on for another week? The main contenders on 27th March are Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for Wii, The Wheelman, Buzz! Brain of the UK, and PS3 versions of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Rock Band 2. In other words, we expect if it's going to be unseated, it will be by something already in the charts.
