Red Dead Redemption 2 Trapper locations - where to find the Trapper and what he does
Our in-progress page on where to find a Trapper merchant in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Trapper locations can be found across the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, with the hunting-focused merchant appearing in both a major town and a few spots out in the wilderness.
Here, we'll explain where you can find the Trapper, including the Trapper locations that we've found so far, as well as what exactly the Trapper does, too.

For more help, our Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthrough explains the requirements for fully completing the game's many story missions.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Trapper locations - where is the Trapper?
The Trapper has several stalls around Red Dead Redemption 2's world, but the main one is in the game's largest city, Saint Denis.
You'll likely be looking for the Trapper after one of the main story missions, like Exit, Pursued by a Bruised Ego, but you can actually go there much sooner if you wish - as soon as the world opens up a little more significantly, at the start of Chapter 2.
You can ride - if you want to go the very scenic route - or get a train to Saint Denis from nearby towns like Valentine, which will effectively fast-travel you there for around $10. Once there, it's only a short distance to the Trapper.
Saint Denis Trapper location
In Saint Denis, the Trapper is located in the outdoor market, in the eastern part of town no far from the waterfront at Lannaheche River.
Head north-west of the train station (which is also by the Fast Travel post if you arrived by stage coach), and you'll see the icon soon enough on your map.
The icon is a pawprint, aptly enough for a pelt trader, and you can set yourself a waypoint if it makes navigating the bustling city a little easier.
Otherwise, the Trapper has several other stalls out in the wilderness.
Strawberry wilderness Trapper location
The first other Trapper spot we've found is just west of Strawberry, or a medium-length ride south-west of Valentine.
He's got a tent, a stall and a campfire you can use just on top of a mid-sized hill - we had to fight off some wolves with an emergent mini-quest that popped up as we approached, and these actually scared the vendor himself away for a few minutes before he returned, so bear that in mind!
Otherwise, he functions at this location just the same as the main Trapper shop in Saint Denis.
That should do you for the start of the Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthrough - there are many others out there, if you keep exploring, but if in doubt, then returning to one of these two will do the trick.
What is the Trapper for in Red Dead Redemption 2?
The Trapper is a pelt trader in Red Dead Redemption 2, buying any hunting or wild animal-related wares from you - like pelts, or raw meat - for a fairly small price.
More importantly though, he has a huge amount of items for sale, most of which seemingly just cosmetic - but that's not to say they aren't still neat, if you're into that sort of thing.
There are full named outfits for sale, or individual pieces you can buy, as well as hunting-related items to help you out. The outfits and clothing he has for sale all have 'recipes', so to speak, requiring certain types of pelt and ingredients to craft, as well as your own money, too.
Whether that fancy hat's worth the hunting effort, and the money, is entirely up to you.
