Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Abandoned Thrifty Megamart, Captain Acerola's Trial against Totem Mimikyu for Ghostium Z
The Abandoned Thrifty Megamart is a rival for one of the creepiest Pokémon locations to date. As always, you won't be able to catch Pokémon inside until the Trial is over, and you'll have to overcome a three-part challenge until the Totem Pokémon appears.
For this trial, you'll need to track down Ghost Pokémon inside the building and take a photo of them with the motion controls of your 3DS. After snappnig each one, you'll need to battle that Pokémon.
- Gastly - a moving conveyor belt.
- Haunter - a moving shopping trolley.
- Gengar - a pair of moving toys (Gengar is harder to find, but try looking higher than usual).
After you've defeated all three, the little 'Pikachu' will head to the top of the room. You'll meet Acerola, who's acting very strangely indeed (spooky!) and, when you keep pressing her, you'll get the chance to take a picture. Do so and you'll find she's actually being imitated by a Mimikyu!
Head into the back room and turn behind to you take another photo, this time of the Mimikyu itself, and then it's time for your Totem Battle! Totem Mimikyu is much tougher in the Ultra versions than regular Sun and Moon, thanks to type-covering partners that it summons like Banette and Jellicent.
For more on Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, head to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub, which includes guides to new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Pokémon and Pokédex changes, the Festival Plaza, a list of Global Missions and rewards, an explainer on Pokémon Bank, a dedicated page on Pokémon Competitive Training, including IV Training, EVs and hidden stats, Breeding 6IV Pokémon explained and how to farm Bottle Caps fast for Hyper Training. What's more, we have pages on the Rockruff event for getting Dusk Form Lycanroc and, last but not least, a full Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon QR codes list for adding all Pokémon to your Pokédex.
The only consistent counter is Ghost-type attacks, but of course your Ghost-type Pokémon will be weak to everything Mimikyu and co. throw at it too. Also, remember that Mimikyu is immune to the first bit of damage it receives thanks to it's ability, Disguise, so don't open with a Z-Move or you'll find it wasted!
Next up: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Route 15, Aether House, and Route 16
After you're done, talk to Acerola (the real one) back out the front of the Megamart and she'll reward you with Ghostium Z and ten Dusk Balls. You're now free to explore Haina Desert if you like, from back on Route 13, otherwise head west again past Aether House and onto Route 15 proper!
