Pok¨Śmon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon - Route 5, Brooklet Hill, Captain Lana's Trial, Totem Araquanid and Waterium Z
A walkthrough for the second island of your Alolan Island Challenge.
Route 5, leading onto Brooklet Hill, Captain Lana's Trial and your battle with Totem Araquanid for Waterium Z are the next steps on your Island journey, taking you towards the north of Akala island where you'll get your first chance to catch some decent Water-type Pokémon.
Here on this page we'll explain all you need to know about the story and main events as they unfold here, and as with all pages of our walkthrough we'll highlight any and all trainers, items and wild Pokémon available to catch as well.
For more general guides and other walkthrough pages like this meanwhile, head back to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Route 5
Before you get to the trial, it's time for a quick journey northwards on Route 5.
There's little of exceptional interest here - Hau is here as in Sun and Moon, along with a mysterious, sulking boy called Gladion, but otherwise the only thing worth noting is that the route is actually split into two halves, with the top half that stretches out the back of the Pokémon Center unaccessible until you reach it from the other side.
Catch some Pokémon, beat all the trainers to take on the Route 'kahuna' that wants you to battle all of them first, and then prep for you trial!
TRAINERS POKEMON ITEMSFor more on Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, head to our main Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon walkthrough and guide hub, which includes guides to new Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Pokémon and Pokédex changes, the Festival Plaza, a list of Global Missions and rewards, an explainer on Pokémon Bank, a dedicated page on Pokémon Competitive Training, including IV Training, EVs and hidden stats, Breeding 6IV Pokémon explained and how to farm Bottle Caps fast for Hyper Training. What's more, we have pages on the Rockruff event for getting Dusk Form Lycanroc and, last but not least, a full Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon QR codes list for adding all Pokémon to your Pokédex.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Brooklet Hill, Captain Lana's Trial, Totem Araquanid and Waterium Z
Here's the more intersting bit! Make sure you have some decent Pokémon in your party - Electric-types like Pikachu are certainly best, but Grass will do as a secondary option - and head into Brooklet Hill.
You'll be greeted by Lana, who will lead yuo into the Trial area. Your task for the trial is to ride Lapras - newly added to your Ride Pager as gen 7's version of Surf! - and head towards the small bubbling areas in the water.
At each one you'll be attacked by a Pokémon. You're on the hunt for Wishiwashi in particular, which will run further downstream each time you beat them.
Keep finding, beating, and following the Wishiwashi until you reach the bottom end. Eventually you'll face the Totem Pokémon, a giant Araquanid - different from the School-Form Wishiwashi you faced in Sun and Moon!
Due to its part-Bug typing this one isn't weak to Grass-type attacks, but instead gains weaknesses to Flying and Rock on top of Electric. Do your best to burst it down quickly, but don't be afraid to use some status attacks to buy yourself time.

After the trial you'll be able to catch Pokémon again, and it's worth sticking around to do so. One man will give you the Fishing Rod (there's just the one in Gen 7) to let you fish at the designated areas of underwater rocks, whilst the items and wild Pokémon in general are worth hunting down!
