Performance RT mode is now available in Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
New mode adds ray-tracing by adjusting "the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density".
Insomniac Games has just deployed an update that adds Performance RT mode to Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered.
Update 1.002's new mode offers an alternate version of the 60 frames per second (fps) Performance mode, and adds ray-tracing by adjusting "the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density".
It joins existing modes Fidelity, which offers ray-traced effects at 4K/30fps, and Performance, which focuses on 60fps at the cost of ray-tracing.
The update also ushers in a handful of bug squishing and QoL tweaks, including improved quality and performance of ray-traced reflections, various progression stoppers, stability and art issues, a number of audio problems, a web-swinging animation issue, and "an animation issue while in Photo Mode".
When news broke that players wouldn't be able to import their save data from the original game, Insomniac promptly responded to complaints by promising it would work to get the update to players "around Thanksgiving". However, the feature became available a few days ahead of schedule.
In related news, if you've been playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales and wondering why you can't stop by the Chrysler Building, when you can in its predecessor - and indeed the remaster of its predecessor - it turns out developer Insomniac's negotiations with the building's rights holder failed.
"When creating our representation of the city we wanted to include as many landmarks as we could to add to the sense of immersion," Stevenson explained. "Sometimes negotiations to use those locations didn't work out, which was the case with the Chrysler Building in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales."
